You are an urban explorer, set to find the hidden gems of modern society. One day, you wake up inside what looks to be an abandoned hospital, without remembering how you got there. The door is blocked by parts of the celling, and there is blood on the ground. Your blood? There is also a faint smell of sulphur.
What is Hypomania?
Hypomania is a Hl2 Horror Mod loosely based on the 'creepypasta' story "Russian Sleeping Experiment". The game takes places in what appear to be an abandoned hospital, with horrors lurking about following your every move. The game consists of some basic puzzles and a lot of story to be discovered.
Hypomania was made as a school project, and as a learning experience for all us involved. As such, this mod is provided a bit "as it is". We will fix any bugs you find, but we wont keep adding content. This is the first time any of us have ever tried anything of this size. We have spent about a year learning and working as we go.
We hope you try and enjoy the little game we have built!

We have finally finished creating this mod, and are currently underway uploading! However, Moddbs' upload is currently not playing ball so it may take a while.
In the meantime, we have uploaded the files to Google Drive. EDIT: The mod seems to be uploading correctly now, so no need to use the Google Drive link!
Instructions:
Open the downloaded .zip file and put the content (folder named Hypomania) inside your steam/steamapps/sourcemods/ folder. Restart Steam.
The game requires that Hl2, Hl2Ep1 and HL2Ep2 is installed, as well as SourceSDK 2007!
My game is missing files?!
If the game is missing files, please make sure that you have run all of the above at least once.
If the game is still missing files, it is probably because of Steampipe. You will have to manually extract the content from the .VPK files.
This tutorial details how to fix the error. You want to scroll to the bottom of the post, under the headline "FIX FOR MISSING TEXTURES AND MODELS".
EDIT:
It seems like the files that are missing are only the files from episode 1! So you only need to extract the vpk file from episode one. If the extraction fails, try using a tool like Nem's GCF scape and extracting the "root" folder to where ever and then copying the models, sounds, textures and particles folder to your hypomania folder and merge them. Do not replace anything though!
Send bugs to hypomaniagame@gmail.com, though please be civil about it.
Haven't been an update in a while and i apologize for that. But rest assured we have not been idle! All the coding is now more or less complete, and we...
Two concept soundtracks from two different parts of the game. They are not finished quite yet (hence "concept").
A little heads-up on the current status, a bit more info about the project and info about a little issue that we have run into.

Too bad it requires ep1. Any chance to mnake a patch so that you dont need ep1 ?
Nevermind ep1, I bought it. Please just fix the mod, its showing "errors"
Ok, got the mod working. You need materials and models folders from ep1 and ep2. Use GCF scape to extract them from ep1_pak_dir.vpk and ep2_pak_dir.vpk to the mods folder, dont overwrite any files.
Is there a way to make a patch or an update to the mod? I tried a could of the suggested fixes and that didn't seem to fix anything. Any suggestions? Maybe a page with a concise guide on what to do?
Really wish I could play this, but unfortunately can't get the textures to work after following the instructions. Dragging the vps files into the exe causes an error, and manually running it in command prompt doesn't seem to do anything. Such a shame!
Try downloading a program called GCF scape from Nem's Tools. Use it to extract the .VPK files from Hl2 episode 1 (These are the files that seem to cause problems for some people). They should be in /common/half-life 2/episodic or some such. You want the file that has "dir" in the name (episodic_dir or something).
When you have opened it with gcf scape, right click where it says "root", click extract. Extract to some location, does not matter where. Then move the following folders from the newly extracted vpk file to your hypomania folder: models, textures, sound, particles. This worked when I replicated the bug on my computer.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
maybe you could just make a patch? Not many people will fiddle with the files
I bet you just need to update the gameinfo file with appropriate information about files needed
Good for a first try, only real bad points are lack of fear from being hunted by something.
It feels better after reading the creepypasta, but maybe seeing one of the now messed up humans after turning the gas off shouting, then breaking a door down would give a hint that something is with you.
