Mostly known as a "Quake III On Doom" mod, Hunter's Moon is a mod for Zandronum and GZDoom that consists in bring the Player versus Environment experiences that Quake III Arena never had.

Report RSS Version 2.7.2, Zandronum 2.1 compatibility and other features

Version 2.7.2 now becomes Zandronum 2.1.2 compatible, some actors' code was rewritten for better sanity of server conection but unfortunately many features will still be kept for a future Version 2.8.

So recently i've wanted to play my mod in Zandronum but i don't wanted people to download the 3.0 beta so i kinda downgraded the mod a little for it work properly with Zandronum 2.1.2 but don't worry, this is temporary and the removed features will be restored in Version 2.8.

Linux users i am aware of the random crash the mod have with the GZDoom 2.1 throwing a "Segment fault" problem, but that happens to be something with PNG images and their alpha channels, this version does not fix this at the moment, however a engine-side fix was already made for GZDoom 2.2 versions, currently there's no compiled executable of this version for Linux but GZDoom 2.2 still can be emulated trough WINE.

The most noticeable downgrade is just the weapon bobbing, other than that the mod entirely plays the way it should.

Certain things got updated like Hellknight, which in the end of all his changes, i decided return him back to his original size as in Doom 3.

He may look funny at the first times you meet him in this version because now he will look small in comparison to the maps scale, but it's all a matter of getting used to it, this change came from the decision of reduce its health from 1500 to 1200 and also make him more compatible with regular maps not intentionally made for mod so he does not stuck in much other maps now, Baron of Hell is still the same though.

This update also covers the problem of Trakion Cannon being kinda overpowered for the amount of ammo it uses, so this was changed from 3 rounds per shot to 15.

The features shown in the last news feed will not appear in this version yet unfortunately, the other Tamers are still pending to be added and Zanieon still have some final polishment to be made since i have to find a way to make players temporarily invulnerable when his strongest sword attack pulls them as this can potentially make them an easy target for the monsters:

His model also changed a bit since the lastest video, increased the thickness of thights and shins a bit, reduced the thickness of ankle and removed the spike to make the feet look not so big in comparison with the legs in overall.

The vehicles code is also gaining a complete rework and hopefully this will get rid of the limitations of the actual code such as the exploit of getting out of it and then reenter to reset health as well reseting player health and armor to default values when going out.

Finally a reminder, Rarlocan Main Base is now progressing alot and is around 60% done already.



Also while no new map gets released for the mod, i decided patch another vanilla wad called Zones Of Fear, currently you can get it from The Sentinel Playground wadbank: Allfearthesentinel.net

Just be aware that this patch still requires the original wad which can be found in Doomworld /idgames: Doomworld.com

So when loading the stuff, make sure you load the patch after the original wad and put the mod in the end of this list to prevent issues and some monsters may still be stucked in small rooms as i kinda rushed this patch to mainly fix the items and bosses placement but updates will be made eventually.

The first wad i patched for some fun while the Baerhon's Dungeon was not ready to be realased was Equinox: Allfearthesentinel.net

If you mean those wads i mentioned in this post, they are not from my authorship, all what i did is adapt those maps to play with the mod properly, nothing more.

As i thought then, from the review you did for the mod, seems you forgot to run the optimization file and use rocket launcher as main weapon.

Now if you simply don't enjoy Serious Sam styled maps then i have nothing to argue with you, matter of taste, i respect that.
