HunCraft Genocide is maybe the most detailed unofficial expansion pack for StarCraft: Brood War. It has 3 new units, new heroes and special buildings in the campaign, 3 new campaign episodes (27 missions and a hidden mission), more than 40 new multiplayer maps and some small changes. Though the most StarCraft expansion packs can be used in use map settings, this game has own exe file, menus and new map file format (hcx). It does not overwrite anything to your original StarCraft installation, but needed to be installed in the same directory. There is a bugfix patch for the Hungarian edition which make some balances in the game. Single player can be described with mass battles and a bit more difficult than original StarCraft. The story continues after Brood War, when admiral DuGalle has committed suicide and Kerrigan has regained control of the Zerg forces.

Notice that HunCraft doesn't work with StarCraft remastered version and bundled SC1+BW versions. You need to install SC1 and BW from separate CDs and BW CD inserted or mounted during HunCraft play. (A Windows XP virtual machine can be useful).

The game's plot and cutscenes seem to be rather amateurish, but is it actually worth checking out gameplaywise? By which I mean, is it on par with StarCraft/Brood War?
The difficulty is harder and the maps are detailed.

Oh, how I loved this mod! Its quality equal, or at least higher than an official expansion pack.
Of course you just overrate the game, because you liked it much :) Obviously this is not as good as a Blizzard game.
But before StarCraft II came out, this game could have been a good choice to StarCraft fans to decrease the impatience of waiting for StarCraft II. It was not happened. This game haven't been advertised that time. Only known by some hardcore sc1 gamers (which is not equal to sc1 masters). Just because nobody wanted to advertise. This was a free game. And now, StarCraft II is polular, so it is hard to find people who are interested to play it, because the game is 12 years old. And obviously because it is in Hungarian. Curious people will realize immediately that they can play the same way this game like sc1, because the gameplay and the hotkeys are the same, but... this could distract many people at all.
Well, I remember I get this mod as an Christmas present. When I was ten, my sister gave me a little booklet, which contained a lot of game name. She sad choose 5 five, and you will get them for Christmas. In those times, piracy was not a big deal. So I chose games what I known to be good. The first was this, then the games Hungarian translation (its was as good as an official one could be). There was three other games too, but those irrelevant now. I played this game about three years, every week on regular basis. I think, this was one of most important game of my childhood.
Sorry. Forgot to mention that no English version predictable by Huncraft Interactive (who made the game). But if some group want to do it, just contact them or write here.

This game is released in 2001. Unfortunately no chance for English version. But the gameplay is the same (but new sounds) and if you are curious of the story, you can read here every turn about every missions in English.

I think it would be amazing if you could contact Kolokol. Perhaps you could find a way together to also translate the interface related text and to bring this expansion to a wider audience.

I noticed it meanwhile. Wow, its like somebody make English subtitles for Űrgammák series :D
There is somebody on www.staredit.com that successfully edited the .mpq file and translated all campaign and cutscene text in english. I installed his edit following his guide and it works perfectly. The sound and the interface is still in hungarian, but people can perfectly understand the story and the objectives.
Thanks a lot for uploading this expansion over here so that we could reach this point right now. Now i can relish in the campaign that the hungarian creators put so much work into (since i don't speak the language).
I hope this gets some popularity because truthfully, this expansion is exceptional for its time.
I've noticed the English version in 2019 and I was gigantly surprised about it, but didn't update this page, now I try.
