The goal of this mod is to bring back the units from the original Homeworld into the Homeworld 2 engine, with high quality texture and polycount detail. The campaign and animatics from the original game will also be included.

Very very lovely fantastic work. Great models, great textures & great gameplay it truly does feel like HW1. There was only 1 thing disturbing me. The corvette behavior wasn't correct just yet. It's still the HW2 corvette behavior.

You should consult the guys of HW@ mod as they were the onces who found a way to restore the HW1 corvette behavior including functioning drones from the drone frigate.

Homeworld Universe mod also adapted that behavior for both instances. You folks should ask either one of those 2 modding groups for advice regarding that.

Seeing this truly makes me wonder can Gearbox even improve upon your awesome work in a HW remake or will their reattempts possibly even be worse?

Oh I've just seen 2 yrs old never mind then I'm sure you added, changed & fixed a lot since then.

Interesting comment, I would have thought that the corvette behavior was correct, they are using a completely different attack style from the ones in HW2 (I created it myself), I will take into account your input and do the best I can to achieve the HW1 feeling.

Thanks!

so if I may inquire... if two years ago you had this much done, which is incredible of course...just how much is there really left to do before I can play the HW1 campaign on HW2's beautiful engine?

Outstanding work!

Ya remember in HW1 the corvettes were more dancing around & floating pretty much on the spot while the HW2 were circling around their enemies. In your video most corvettes were acting like fighters. Only the Defenders at the end of the movie seemed correct although it looked kind of funny the way they Slided left and right. Accomplish the same + up sight down and left & right without the slight impression and it should be just fine.

Still this video is 2 years old you should show the corvette behavior in combat as it is these days for all I know you may have got it working already I can't tell.

Thanks 23-down, but I beg to differ in a few details:

1. HW1 corvettes as other bigger ships use the default attackstyle,a variation of "Frontal" from HW2 but always strafing, the bigger the ship the less it strafes, but that strafe depends on the tactics used.

2. The corvettes in the video are chasing fighters which normally are faster keeping them at the edge of their attack range, but after they reach 0.5 of their maximum attack range, they will immediately strafe around its target, If you look closely you will notice that.

3. HWU and HW@ use the "flyround" attackstyle from the corvettes in HW2 renamed to "circlestrafe" and tweaked a littlebit, nowhere near HW1 in anyway.

4. The Defenders movement was bug caused by a limitation of the engine to use certain acceleration and max thruster values, HW1 was much better in this aspect.

5. I just checked all this from playing a skirmish in HW1, downloaded and played HWU and HW@, and looked at its internal files to verify, the same day I wrote this.

Thanks for the suggestion, and you would be able to verify this pretty soon, when we launch our second demo.

Edit: the only one using the HW2 attack style in our mod is the minelayer corvette, but with its correct range stats for the attackstyle.

Ah ok thanks for your answer.. Well then this does sounds good indeed. It's been some while that I actually started HW2 myself or HW1 for that matter. I will certainly start it again when your 2nd demo hits on the ground..

And thanks for the clarification. It's not often these days devs on moddb are responding to suggestions or criticism. :) Good job!

Description

This is a 2 years old footage, at that time we had a lot of work to do, but we always tested everything worked, or at least most of it and made sure it didn't interfere with normal usage.

As you can see in the video we had problems with AI, some turrets, a few textures, some ships were not ready to be used and other were not even started.

The amount of ships was to test the performance compared when we could get AI and scripts working.
