On spawning into a map you can choose either Combine or Rebel forces. The server always auto balances teams and automatically switches you between each team on alternate rounds, so every player gets to play every map on every team, and teams are always as balanced as possible. The objective is fairly simple, there are 3 or more sections to each map, and the Rebel team must achieve a particular target as described by the commentary before the next area is unlocked, until eventually destroying the final target at the end of the map. Areas remain unlocked once opened, and the spawn points will move on. Combine forces are only equipped with the AR2, stunstick, smoke grenades and SLAMs as they have the easiest task. The rebels only have the crowbar, pistol and machine gun and smoke grenades. All players can view an objective map in the top righthand corner, which also shows player locations, team status, and the position of the next objective. The rebel targets can be destroyed by explosives...

Well as my tentative release date rapidly approaches it looks like we aren't going to make it. The delay shouldn't be more than a week though, and is for very good reason, as as_citytension is shaping up to be one doozy of a map as H-K keeps coming up with great new ideas :) I've been hard at work touching up existing maps, such as adding the crane to as_coast, and today I added revolving lights to the lighthouse in as_invasion. I've also been working on developing some intresting new weapons and objectives for citytension, including some cool looking snipers (remember the guys with blue lasers?) which have to be defeated. I don't have any particularly impressive screenshots to show them off (but trust me you'll be impressed when you actually see them in action) so I can't post any new media, but it goes a long way to helping the mod become much more novel in it's approach, and breaks up the monotony of the 'go here, breakstuff, then go here break more stuff' type gameplay which has been predominant in previous releases. There are a few more cool touches being added to citytension as I speak, but as they are H-k's speciality, I won't ruin the surprise :) Let's just say I'm really excited about this release, and I hope you are too.
