I'd aim for a slightly larger muzzle flash. (No pun intended) just a little bigger. The existing one looks suitable for a pistol.
Big noise = big flash! :)

Yea I just realized that myself. Thanks for the 2nd opinion. I've played with this scaling so much I'm just starting to lose track of the tinier things. If this gun wasn't so awkward IRL it might be easier to animate, but damn my first attempt at select anim played out horribly. Oh. And not to mention that muzzle flash is also receiving some brutal downsizing from the perspective slant. Note the breach muzzle... thing is also appearing to be the same diameter as the main barrel and tube, whereas in the pickup model it was significantly larger.

Are you scaling your models from different angles?

They're scaled and kept relative at all times. All my scaling is X, Y, Z equal. It's just the way the player's view slants things to simulate non-orthographic display, displays a level of slant. It's just random chance this guy got hit with more slant than its competitors, based on its size and posture. Did some rescaling and animation cleanup, next I might add an overlay for shotgun shells visibly loading into the weapon.

Description

So we've been quiet the last couple of months. Seems Atrey is having more luck with his skype lately, and we signed up with Ex Unitae Vires, and I'm out of school for a bit, resuming in a week or so but under less traffic. All's good right? Yea, one would think.

Right now my current objective with be anything productive with code or working on the Super Stubby shotgun model... and this is a posted preview. This has been postponed about a month to publicly release files and deal with "the slump" that occurred... and it's not exactly amazing still. This model is proving an odd posture, complex to animate, very odd in sizing (both because it is small and small relative to even the player's hands... but it's not a handgun) and generally we're seeing an unhealthy dose of perspective slant.

See how the right hand seems about on-par with the left hand? Actually, it's not. It's actually about 20-25% or so SMALLER than the left hand, and I had to apply this as a last resort after 2 dozen attempts to redo posture, viewpoint, and etc to get this to be done legitimately. This still may not even but up to par for usage, but it is SO much closer... due to a very ugly method, one that may not even pay off when it comes time to animate and the stock with the same actual size has to move around, but we'll see.

Trying to beat the slump, get the blood flowing, and whip up a storm of mod-creation and general ass-kickery but the temptations are beyond numerous and the obstacles are definitely steep.

Always down, never out as I sometimes say.

Thoughts on this preview? (Other than blacked out muzzle flash)
