Halo: Starside Intercept is a Homeworld 2 total conversion bringing tactical space combat to the Halo universe.
These towering megastructures are capable of rapidly manufacturing 'designer' stars. As the star grows in size, more pillars are added into the system, increasing stability and fuel distribution. The process always begins with two, but may end with hundreds of thousands, depending on the desired star.
They use the same basic principle as our fusion reactors, but on a much grander scale. Each pillar is over 2,000 kilometers in height. Another noteworthy difference is that once one of these stars achieves stellar critical mass, it becomes self sustaining, freeing these structures of their timeless work. We theorize that in order to gather enough resources to manufacture entire stars, others are harvested.
