A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
Finally got around to modeling not only shipyard but recording it. Enjoy.
Reference images were the products of the Homefront mod team.

Not to be rude or anything, but seriously? Why are you using our models to reference yours when you can obviously get a better reference from Reach? I just don't understand it.
Because its what Uni, and Canada gave me. We have a dropbox, I went to what we had i used that. Sorry? I didn't even realize it was yours.
I thought it was from Reach

The canon design is from Reach, the image in his video is from my mod and I don't see any credit for it.
it was an accident relax bro
Question: Do you do this sort of work for a living?
I ask because this seems like long and tedious work, not something I would like to do in my off time if I didn't work as a modeler or are you in school for this type of work and looking to use this as proof of your skill?
Ether way you are doing a great job and I look forward to what you work on next.
Never done a day of schooling for this. Self taught from the beginning, and its not as long and tedious as you think. Its fun to sit back and look at a awesome looking 3d model.
My prayers have been answered! I'm starting to get a better understanding of 3ds max due to my schooling, as cliche` as it sounds I hope to be as good as you one day
Thinking about starting a video tut on youtube if i do ill let you know.
I have a question for you Lord_Set...
Does the version of 3DS Max matter when creating models? I often see many modelers use 3DS Max 7, even though 3DS Max 12 is available, so why use a lower version? If you could answer this I'd be greatful for the answer.
It's cheaper to pick up older versions. The basics of modelling are the same across all versions (and 3D modelling tools to an extent) basically, so it doesn't matter if you've got an older version or the newest one unless you're working on really top end stuff that actually makes use of the more complex tools they add over time.
But you can also get 3ds max full for free if you sign up to get a student copy, which is the entire version for free(normally 4000 dollars,or something insane)just put your name and what kind of student you are and you have it,thats what i did,as i'm only in highschool
You can do this, but your school needs to be registered with Autodesk's student program. I don't know how hard it is to set up but they'll ask for contact details for your school to register it.
is this in real time? :P
Nope, time lapse.
It was a joke because of how fast lord_set produces models
I see.
I can't believe the amount of work you guys put into this! The fact you guys are using YOUR time to make this mod and share it with the rest of us, is one reason why I enjoy gaming so much. Well done lads, now Im getting teary eyed it's so beautiful
I really enjoyed this model. Too bad it didn't came out for the mod
