A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
Our first CG trailer featuring the UNSC! Big thanks goes out to Putte08, the creator!

Epic. And some kind of sad.
Wonderful trailer.
Halo: Reach was actually voted as one of the 10 saddest games of the year. (Whichever year that was)
nicely done fellas :)
Not going to lie, this looks a bit too "flat" for a cinematic trailer.
If you have any tips for our animator let us know, but we're pretty pleased with his first attempt here.
It looks great, except for when the station docking clamps release the Halcyon, I don't think in space that a ship would rock like that.
It's a Marathon.
was thinking the same, although some kind of mechanism to get the ship to clear the manipulators and any fuel attachments etc might make sense.
excellent trailer, as others said, quite poignant too.
I agree with you here, not only (even if with a mechanism to send give it some distance from the clamps) it's way too fast both dropping and starting to pull away, but this speed also diminishes the feel of mass and size of such a big ship. Apart from some pretty rough cuts between scenes (Some slow fades to black or cross-fades would make a huge difference since it's a slow music)and the whole level of color on the whole thing which looks a bit too brigth and grey. (Consider using "Exposure" and "Vibrance" in After Effects or Premiere to tweak it up a bit)Tough, for a mod, it is very far from bad and in overall, quite enjoyable. Good work!
Dude have you seen how fast the infinity is. And that is not the result of forerunner engines either. The ships in halo are god damn fast. Always have been.
They are pretty damn fast. I think the issue here is that when it drops, it acts as if gravity pulls it down. Plus, going that fast next to a station could be hazardous.
Fantastic
That song just makes me think of the amount of death humanity went through in the Halo universe, i thought of Planets falling one by one to the onslaught, very erie, well done!
I like the trailer, but the music drives me crazy... :(
I like it, but our next trailer is going to include more orchestral music from what Putte08 is saying to me.
Didn't Waseem compose this one as well though?
Yes.
I agree with emraldis; it's rather upbeat and there's too much auto-tune.
I like it too, it made me think of the game Endless Space for some reason.
nice, like it
Nice. Not bad. Although too bad you guys could've get out a whole lot more of it when it was post processed in after effects. Whole thing could use more contrast. The ships are pretty flat in lighting. Some depth of field could've been added. Ship Animations at the undocking scene could've been slower and smoother with more visible acceleration. Overall it doesn't look toooo spacey because of the flat universal lit scene...
BUT I know myself how much work this is and I can say that this already takes a very good amount of time so I can understand that at some point you don't want to get nuts on the details. Good job anyways!
"slip space rupture detected" sent chills down my spine
That was amazing especially the spooky ending
I have goosebumps.. Great work guys :)
Amazing video, that said I have only a couple of things that bugged me. As it was mentioned, the rocking of the Marathon as it was released would not have happened in space. Only other thing that I didn't care for in that part was how fast the ship started moving. Things usually take a little while to speed up no?
Anyhow, the shading could use some work, but the over all feel of the trailer really hit home for me in the Haloverse. Great work.
I couldn't help but think that this trailer was merely decent up until the end there. After I heard "slipspace rupture detected" chills went down my spine and I couldn't help but smile despite myself. Awesome
Had to put my own spin on it...

lmao
Like the video hate the music no offense :/
Did they get it from Kinetic Void or something?
Great work guys.
Whoa, man. I haven't seen you in years.
Play pretty much any Homeworld track over the video and you get the eerie uneasiness that I imagine you would feel in the last moments of preparation against a Covenant invasion.
A good shot for the first try. I would say work on the rendering. Add a bit more contrast in there and making the direct angle of the sun from behind the camera might give it some better direct lighting. Depth of Field always looks nice for close up shots and you can always do that in whatever program your making the movie with, instead of adding it to the render. The Skybox that looks like it contains the textures for the stars looks faded, if your rendering this out in 3d first it should be easy to composite in a nice shot of some quality space backgrounds using the alpha layer of the renders. I would definatly hands down say get different music, when I think Halo, this style of music is probably farthest from my mind. Animation is not bad but I would love to see com trails of fighter wings streaking in and out here and there. Also be careful how close you get with the camera you don't want to be able to see the resolution of the textures in the shot, mostly my opinion though. Hope that helps some.
Been watching the mod for a while glad to see things moving along.
Cheers!
Contrails from wings don't happen in space, otherwise I'm sure Putte will take these to heart.
I think what he means are the engine lights which have a glowing streak in most space games
Putte08, fantastic job! Waseem, awesome as always, keep up the good composing!
It does definitely look too flat. What from was this rendered in? I would also say that the lighting needs a lot of work.
If he was in 3D Studio Max I would suggest a mixture of an omnilight and a tunnel spot from the sun's direction, but not too bright, in order to create perfect CGI lighting but still give the feelin that it looks almost just as awesome ingame.
that was good work, but there was something off with the lightning which made it weird to look at, none the less great job !
It's a good start, echoing the "too flat" statements, the areas of space, they need more to them, dust, faint particles, signs of obvious lighting, things to compliment the models themselves, otherwise they look too stark and stand out more than they should.
Beautiful trailer.
I was waiting for the opening salvos :(
Always a start! Sort of reminds me of the actual battle of Reach, not the joke the game of the same name told about :P
Fantastic!
After the screen went dark, I was sort of expecting it to suddenly come back with UNSC debris in orbit, and the planet burning.
The ending was kind of anticlimatic.
Is this a customized soundtrack or something that I can find elsewhere, as contrary to what many others thought I loved the song.

just played on one of my created maps that run a trip set of pirate bases for more enemies per star system and HOLY SH!T the amount of flood was insane almost a full compliment of UNSC Fleet and I got overrun on 3 planets before I could take the flood down; NEW game mode found: SURVIVE!
That's what the mod is when the flood is activated, survive! lol
