It's also too big. I don't see how a ship could shoot something bigger and have a brighter flash than the ship itself. It is a good explosion, it just needs to be sized down to make it more realistic.
If anything it should look like the projectile from the warthog's Gauss Cannon - it's the exact same technology, just on a smaller scale. I present this picture as proof.............
according to that picture this thing is WAY off,the blast on that is only a fraction of the ships size, while this one is nearly 2 times the ships size.
that one is a white ball, this one is an enormous orange dragon-ball z looking teardrop shape.
its just the gauss railgun ability particle from bailknight's mod. I agree the different ship tiers (frigates, cruisers & capitals) need there own MAC effects; the pic in the link above as well as the scene in Reach would be a good reference. More whites and blues would be nice, kinda like the gauss hog.
yer if you've read the books the super mac round itself dosnt do damage but the hull of the ship is pulverized by the sheer kinetic force of the impact and it reloads in 5 seconds.
Sorry about getting nerdy here, but technically railguns shouldn't have really any effect for shooting, because all you're doing is using magnets to fling a metal obeject...
Ok, what the particle should look like is rather simple to deduce now. Halo: Reach, the small MAC cannon you use at the end of the last mission. There you go
big gun lol
it seems a bit bright

Too bright?
just a tad
heh, it does look like a literal explosion I guess. Back to the drawing board for MAC particle #237
make it a little more...streamlined, slimmer, if u know what i mean?
it really should have no fire at all,MAC rounds use electromagnetism, not propellants.
You're right, but that's rather boring isn't it?
I've suggested a blue effect rather than red, simulate a lot of electromagnetic power.
technically due to friction it the barrel the mac rounds do come out red hot and are moving fast enough to appear to have a red trail

Perhaps have a more distant shot of the MAC? It looks a bit like a laser here
IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZER
its beautiful *wipes tear from eye*
i think we should see a video before determining if its too bright or not

well according to that picture I think it looks pretty good

um..........can you say "dead covenant"?
Now THAT, is a MAC blast. Eat it Covies.
ho-ly ******* crap...
THE LIGHT! IT BURNS!
seems kinda unfortunate that it only diminishes the shield according to the books anyway

Houston we have a problem. There appears to be an all powerful projectile moving at incredible speed straight towards us. Please advise.
also i think the engine glare is too bright/large for the size of the frigate

They would still have an effect. Be it lighting, or just the plasma of the sabot.
I guess, maybe the projectile warps space in a certain way? idk, but itdefinetly looks cooler with an effect, i'd have to agree with u there...
the projectile is suposed to be white hot from the friction and stuff any way
Could they charge the MAC Gun in split space? Cause in the promo they fired it Right after they left split space.

If that was comming at me I would say. OMFG WTH IS THAT! THATS NO MOON ITS A MAC GUN!
If you pull the trigger on this you are seriously f**king up someone's day.
Will this be an upgradeable element to the frigate?
mac blast<3
