Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
As we count down the days to a physical release...please gratify yourselves upon some new screenshots! This showcases off a six player map taking place near the mid-areas of our solar system near Jupiter, promoting a fairly long game of making and breaking alliances!
If you have sharp eyes, you might see new faces in here!
Credit to map background goes to the(now apparently disappeared) Battlestar Galactica mod team.
Credit to the planet goes to the Babylon 5 mod team.
OH. MY. GOD. *drools profusely, and proceeds to pick jaw up of floor*

Um I can't find my jaw, where did it go? EPIC SCREANSHOT!
Desktop Background anyone? EPIC!
Time spent trying to think of a way to describe how awesome this is 10 minutes.

What about the Covenant? Are they in development or already done?
I think they said at some point that they wouldn't start work on the covenant until they've finished the UNSC :)
This pleases heavy weapons guy.
Just the other day i was thinking of a scenario like this in which a fleet used a massive flak, autocannon and torpedo volley as a type of creeping barrage in space.
I guess we're slowly synching up in our minds to the point of independantly converging.
"creeping barrage"?
WW1 tactic of having artillery fire a barrage of heavy fire slowly ahead of advancing infantry to cover their approach, as soon as the artillery fire lifted, the infantry were hopefully already within range of the enemy's trenches while the enemy still had to redeploy after taking shelter from the artillery fire.
Not sure how well that would work in open space, since there's nowhere to take cover. And judging from the explosions in the picture, it looks like this fleet might be getting as much fire as they're giving...
It's effectiveness is obviously hard to quantify given the very different mediums, but the utility of it would be to provide a fairly solid wall of fire to negate missile fire (possibly even to disrupt plasma torpedos) or deny fighters and bombers from getting into range or even launching from their carriers.
Evidentally from our pictures though, UNSC pilots have an uncanny ability to avoid flak fire.
Honey, where did I put that fleet of trigger happy clowns again?
pew pew
calling this overkill is underkill
Put's me in the mind of the Star Fox line "Fire! Fire! Don't let em through!"
