Black Mesa Minute
From the beginning I planned implementing gamemode simillar to that New York Minute from the original Max Payne games, since we're playing Half-Life, I decided to name it Black Mesa Minute.
I really enjoy speedrunning and I played New York Minute in Max Payne 3 alot. It's such a gamemode that really makes you learn how to push forward despite tons of enemies around. In fact, once you build confidence in yourself about rushing the minute, you realise how easy it is to rush, atleast while you have enough bullet time.
So I decided to implement simillar gamemode in Half-Payne. The ruleset is simillar to the New York Minute from Max Payne 3 - you have to complete levels without dying and while not letting the time to run out. Killing enemies nets you more time.
- Ordinary kill - 5 seconds
- Headshot kill - 6 seconds
- Explosive kill - 10 seconds
- Projectile kill - 1 second (enemy greandes)
You can watch how it looks in the video below. I'm still yet to decide how I'm going to handle the gamemode flow in terms of map changes, when and how to end the gamemode etc. I also have to be sure that there will be enough time to beat each separate chapter.
It would be great to support custom maps to play Black Mesa Minute on them and I will be really happy if this gamemode will spark some competition among people, because it's not just speedrunning as fast as you can, but also how you destroy your enemies.
Black Mesa Minute is going to be featured in the next mod version along with several bugfixes. I'd really like the feedback and I'm open to all your suggestions and help in terms of content (especially models).
