You are Kovac, a senior agent in the covert Special Black Operations unit. You're deployed to Black Mesa to halt the next phase of the science team's plan after HECU forces are unsuccessful in stopping Freeman from launching the Omega Satellite delivery rocket... ...but you fail, the procedure ends up creating massive portal storms in the sky sending you and your team through a void to oblivion and back. You wake up almost twenty four hours later; the military has withdrawn, and everyone and everything besides your fellow Black Operators are now a target. To make matters worse, another hostile and more powerful alien faction has appeared in the chaos, further complicating the situation. The incident can no longer be contained, you must link up with other Black Ops units and prepare to wipe the facility from the map once and for all...

I woke up today to find Dark Matter was ranked #10 on Moddb, and I couldn't see why since there was no new feature on the front page... It took awhile, but eventually I realised Lambda Generation had tweeted about us! I remember seeing our mention in one of their videos back in March as well, which was really cool and gave the page a lot of attention. Thank you thank you guys, I really really appreciate it!

As I stated before the next big update with new locations is coming 01/01/2020, but I'm still working on that so there's not much to really show right at this time. Since we're "hot" though, I might as well show you a demonstration of Race X in action, fighting Nihilanth's forces no less! By default, only certain species attack each other in Opposing Force, but we changed all that and now they'll actually attack each other when their paths sometimes cross in Kovac's new Black Mesa adventures!
We also changed the blood colour of Race X to a greenish one, to reflect the fact that they're a different species (I haven't updated the gib models yet, that will happen too).
So after several of you asked if they would be there, so they're here and more deadly than ever!

For the longest time, I thought Race X were just mutated Xen creatures - especially the Voltigore.

Hey D3ads, I had an idea when reading the mod summary. Is it possible you could add yet another third alien race coming through the portals in the final hours?
So you got the races from Xen, Race X, and then another that arrives in the final chapter of the game that increases the chaos further. Doesn't have to be for long or even intend the player to fight them, just to show how bad things are getting and make the player WANT to nuke Black Mesa.

Well.. that was the original intention actually, but I realised that it would be a lot of work and there was already a hostile alien race present... Race X. They didn't get much of a focus in Opposing Force likely due to time restraints, so I can expand on them and show you just how powerful and deadly they really are!
I'll go into more detail in an article soon...
Excellent, though perhaps with the help of a Gargantua, XEN's forces would win this fight.

Throw some Gargantuas and manta ships in there and Race X wouldn't have a very good time.
Eh, Shock Troopers could still take out a Gargantua if there are lots of them
A large group backed up by voltigores could take out one gargantua but certainly not multiple gargs and race x would certainly struggle with manta ships as they don't have very good anti air capabilities. On that note, I'd actually like to see multiple skirmishes between race X and Xen to better highlight the strengths and weaknesses of both factions.
