I'm still disappointed Xen growth was removed from Half-Life 2. Would of added to the atmosphere.
Considering the quick reboot in development in the aftermath of the Beta leak in 2003 I feel like that was just scrapped for time. Maybe if they released in 2005 but oh well.
Considering how quick they rebuilt the game it's amazing it turned out as good as it did!
Certainly. I just wish more of the alpha/beta assets made it to the final game. It's a good thing we have talented lads, like these devs, giving it life.
I like how they played with that with HL Alyx, they gave us a taste of what it would have been like to have Xen flora(/fauna?) in City 17, and suggested that the Combine is pretty thorough in their efforts to quarantine, wall off and then burn it.
Beta never actually had any xen flora infestation prototyped, minus three lone xen lights in a sewer
