Seems like they only shipped windows binaries. You can fix it by going into the Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer page, going into properties, compatibility and checking the force the use of a specific compatibility tool

Will there be a Linux version? Seems like all the binaries that are shipped are windows only. Manually adding the client.so and server.so makes the game run but only wire meshes are visible. Still runnable under proton if you specify that you want the windows version of the Source SDK
are there different install instructions for putting it on an external drive? sorry am a bit of a dolt lol
