I got a few messages from people thinking each of these chapters are a chapter in the mod.
Each Storyline chapter is a new mod itself with subchapters in each game to split it up.

Half Life 2:Extinction tells the story between Half life 1 and Half life 2 in a fictional way.
You play as Rob Rentrix, a rebel soldier, who has just survived the 7 hour war. Humankind has been overrun by combine forces and are close to extinct from the face of the earth. The last remaining forces of EF fight a desperate battle for survival in the bloody streets of City17.

The storyline of Half Life 2: Extinction is the cut into 3 diffrent chapters, much like a bookseries.

Chapter 1: Retreat
Summary: Combine forces launched from a giant starship in pods invade the earth in a series of heavy bombardments and attack forces.
Worlds nations overwhelmed by the attack quickly put together the EF (Earth Forces) and try to hold the incoming swarms of Troop Pods launched from space. In the next couple of hours the world saw the most horrific warfare and combat ever in history.
The attack launched destroyed the EF with 90% Killed and 5% wounded. The remaining units where scattered, confused and unable to contact Unicom for any news. The combine forces around City 17 dug in around the citylimits.
In the meanwhile Dr. Wallace Breen surrendered the earth to the overwhelming forces of the Combine.
Like the rest of the remaining EF forces in City 17, your goal is to escape the city and get into the forrest. While trying to accomplish this you will be in dense urban enviroments and small underground sewers and maintance tunnels.

Chapter 2: Woodlands
After succesfully escaping the city and defeating the combine forces that where dug in around the city your path leads you through the forest. Bunkers, trench systems, and tight tree formations await you in this open space. The woodlands and countrysides where not preffered targets for bombardments so the area will be rather clean of destruction but a lot of areas will be deserted wich makes for a great apocalypse setting.
Your task is to find a abandomned rocket station that was recently reactivated to shoot the starship into pieces but all tries had been a failure. Instead, a few volounteers are selected to enter a rocket and get shot into space to infiltrate the starship. And guess who one of these are. You.
While you try to ready the rocket together with the crew maning the station you will fight off waves of combine soldiers attacking the bunker. If the combine take the last remaining rocket they will destroy it, making it impossible to stop the incoming invading forces.

Chapter 3: Spaceship
Arriving in the rocket to the ship you decent into space and walk on the ship to find a entrypoint. The combine dont know you are aboard and its your goal to sneak around them and into the engine compartment. The rest of the crew will scatter around the ship and destroy various objectives. The enginecore will blow up the entire starship from the inside so its crushal not to attract attention while your on your way there.
Once your mission is over, head to the Troop Pod launchsite to get shot down to earth again. Expect heavy resistance on your way back since the entire ship will know that something is going on. In the starship you will encounter Guards as the main enemy, Regular soldiers around the barracks/Pod site and Officers at the more high valued targets.

After some time working on the third level there still seem to be areas that overload a certain part of the source engine. I am still working hard on fixing this and i hope it wont be a future concern on other maps. The map sadly has not made any progress cause of this issue as optimizing is a big step in mapmaking.

Instead i have aswell begun working on the last level. I personally dont like to get stuck nor to have a lot of loose ends so its a good way to make progress in both ways. The so called "endgame" will also be the end of the first chapter in the storyline.

Im also aware that its taking me forever to make this mod but its cause i am lacking time. Real life just comes first as many of you know. Its either making it very short or making it halfway decent in the length wich i preffer since i still have a few ideas for the game. Afterall its a huge project for me and i hope you all understand.

In a few days i hope to finish the third level to an ok degree to continue on with the 4th level. Wich partially will be in a ruined school and hospital. When Level 4 will be finished is still to be dated. In total i will have around 6-7 maps for you all to play. And after release i will continue to update the files for issues that you report.

Why would it be called City 17 immediately after the combine take over? Surely it would still be called its normal earth name for a while?

That's the only problem I've got. The maps look excellent.

BleiWolf, your selection of music for this mod gives me good reason to think this might be one of those games thats going to make it. Ill be traking and checking up on the updates in the future. Bon voyage and good luck on your future endeavors.

As alot of people here i have holidays and all my 3 weeks of holiday have been spend in Spain with my girlfriend so nothing has been developed since the 26th june. We all want it, and we all need it. It has done good to get away a little.
I will however return back to denmark the 17th July wich is this saturday. In the meantime i have collected ideas for the mod and also musical pieces that could come handy.

Its the biggest pain since i crashed into a car with my scooter.
I need the 3d camera cause my screen is filled with wireframe so i cant see where or what im doing

I have just the same bug after the update for Source SKD. All the models in 3d are just green and red lines, it sucks. I hope Valve gives us a new update very soon, but I cant help you. Cool mod by the way ;)
