Give your bots the CPU cycles they deserve. They have earned it ! Hardware Accelerated Battlefield AI (HABAI) improves AI bot performance. At the present time it is only available for the Forgotten Hope mod for Battlefield 2. Support for other mods like AIX2 may followas well as ArmA2:OA. What does this mean ? For the player it means more intense gameplay, with bots using and performing better with weapons and vehicles. That means blistering game play with more bullets flying, more explosions, more aggressive AI, more fun ! Mods without servers full of human players can be given a new lease of life. The AI is more difficult to play with as it responds faster. Clans can use this mod to improve training in BF2 with bots. The mod will also allow easy switching of maps using the in game map voting menu. There will also a be a custom quick start GUI so single player and coop players can get quickly into a multicore accelerated game with the AI.

Post news Report RSS HABAI for ArmA2:OA Warfare Benny Edition

Interesting news. I've been applying the same concepts that I developed for Battlefield 2 to ArmA2. In ArmA2:OA the AI is even more sensitive to CPU slow downs. Even though OA is supposed to be multi-core enabled it does not seem to have a dedicated thread for the AI. I was getting very bad performance. So I did the same as for BF2. Ran the ArmA2:OA server on 2 cores and the ArmA client on the other two cores, and PRESTO ! Now I have better performance and responsive AI.

Ran the ArmA2:OA server on 2 cores and the ArmA client on the other two cores. As usual this took a lot of reading around, tweaking, and understanding what a lot of the settings actually do as well as how the ArmA2 engine works. So, PRESTO ! Now I have better performance with a minimum of 20fps with the FPS holding around 30 to 40 most of the time. 20fps is actually good for ArmA where you would normally want 40 to 60fps in most FPS games, but ArmA is not your normal game ! It is more of a very specialised piece of software. So I'll try and get this together into some kind of release. Despite the Forgotten Hope logo at the top of the page I plan to release for AIX2 (as was requested). I'll also come up with some ideas for an ArmA release that makes the approach to AI game play intelligible and fun.
