Grand Theft Auto United is a modification based on 'GTA San Andreas' for the PC. The target of this modification is to unite in only one game the game areas, the so called 'maps', of the two GTA Games 'GTA III' and 'GTA Vice City' on basis of the graphic- and physic engine of 'GTA San Andreas'. The map of 'GTA San Andreas' therefore gets replaced in the current version.

After a bit longer "winterbreak" we want to use the occasion to make some things clear and talk about the last months and another chapter in the history of this modification. Also we want to ensure you that we are still alive and ready to work on.

After a bit longer "winterbreak" we want to use the occasion to make some things clear and talk about the last months and another chapter in the history of this modification. Also we want to ensure you that we are still alive and ready to work on.

Inofficialy it is known for a long time now, but we also want to tell it officialy again: the last months were most hardest one's since we started working on VC2SA and LC2SA. The most important event of those days was the loss of two of our most important members: oCain and PARADOXON. With the time the work on the mod lost a bit of it's verve and the whole project slowed down observably. At least the internal release of an early testversion (GTA United 1.2i) was a milestone again, but it did not heal the wound gaping in the team. The only changes made were some fixes here and some additions there. But as told above it all kept within limits. However this should change now!

With the beginning of the new year ColdDeath, AMD and Aschratt sit together to talk about several things related to the mod: facts, the future and the prospectively proceeding. A strong aspect is the nearer future of the modification. We decidet to look out for some new members for several special tasks, but just like the times before we reserve to decide who we will pick. In the field of graphics and artwork we are lucky to welcome MAL_ONE to our team, who already created some qualitively high-classified graphics for us including new loadscreens and fonts for the HUD (as shown below). For more tasks we are still looking for people. But this is not the only change in our team. We decidet to pick out some people from our memberlist and set them inactive. This does not mean that we break up with them! Who still likes to work for us is welcome to do so. Also who once worked on our project has put his part into this, so he reserved himself a place in the credits.

But not only the team has changed. Also we decidet to go a new line in the field of promotion. We are trying to document our progress with pictures now, from which we are picking the best and form them into news from time to time. Also we are currently working on an progress analytics at the moment, with the target to create a clear plan for the next public release, which is out to be the next milestone. As long as this is not done we will remain ourselfes in silence about the release date (just as the times before). As long as there is no progress towards a release candidate we cannot say something about when it will be released. In fact with GTA United 1.2 we want to reach a point where we can say we have a stable pre-release candidate for the final version. Stable for example means that we want to fix the savegame crash or the random freezes. We are lucky that Alexander Blade pledged his help here.

Unfortunately some real important changes of the last months got lost, party with whole members. For example a few mission stubs of oCain. The loss is as big that we are pretty sure that most of this stuff will never or just partly be includet into version 1.2. But also some smaller changes are lost in the data-nirvana because of a hard drive crash. Wherever we made some steps forward there was a step back.

But to come back to what we have we also want to show you that some good work also has survived those months. As written above MAL_ONE has done some good job with artworks. For example here is one of the new panorama-effect loadscreens, which is turned out real excellent as we think:

Also there have been many changes to the script. For example we created about 250 new weapon pickups and replaced them with the old ones. Also ColdDeath and Aschratt adapted Dannye's Ultimate Stunting SCM for GTA United. ColdDeath cut a short movie about this and where we are talking about movies: the GTA United trailer cracked the 100.000 views mark on YouTube. On this way we want to thank all viewers for their interest. However this is not everything yet. As descriped above these are just a few of the changes we made in january. For us a time of planning starts now. We will inform you whenever there are some news.
