Ground Zero is an in-depth, post-apocalyptic RPG inspired strongly by the Fallout series. Leveraging Doom 3's scripting engine and real-time graphic capabilities, we are creating a highly generative and dynamic game framework by placing the RPG within the context of a simple high-level strategy game. Factions, cities, and organizations, are networked with each other and the player such that the world evolves over time with or without the player's intervention. By creatively applying a range of skills and abilities, the player carves a niche for him or herself that may help shape the world after the bomb!

Description

Drag the contents of this archive into your Doom 3 folder. This release is a technology demonstration showcasing the ability to procedurally generate a game environment at runtime based on variable inputs, including a pathnode system that can be created and modified on the fly, and fully destructable architecture. Also included is a number of improvements to the step-based combat system, and the early version of an entirely new mouse-driven movement and control scheme. Character control is now point and click with a free-floating cursor, akin to isometric adventure/RPGs. Performance is greatly improved over our last release, thanks primarily to a level-of-detail system (which is still in its infancy). All characters, weapons, props, and models/textures are still placeholders, and do not reflect our vision for the finished game.
