This mod is a project to add some more extra flavor for Germany in TGC mod. Most parts of this mod are based on real life events that where in project or planned, yet never fully realized. Some parts of this mod has been already integrated into the TGC, yet critical parts where left out, due to some people not wanting these events. By downloading this mod you will fully enable all the features I have implement. This includes a wide range of options, most for Germany, but some for other nations as well. Moreover, it also expands on some already existing decisions in the TGC, for example, it allows renaming of all German provinces in the Rhine to French. It also gives Polish names to all former Poland Lithuania, if owned by Poland or the latter. This mod also adds 4 new German colonies, 3 based on real ideas and 1 just for fun. The main attraction of this mod is a "Reichspakt" feature, which is an economic union between various European countries. See read me for more information!

News

Hello dear reader,

I am writing this article to inform you about the future statues of GEF and what the future holds. Let me begin with the biggest announcement that GEF and TGC are getting merged! :) This will mean that one no longer has to download this mod in order for it to work, it would also a more smooth update plan for me, as I won't have to go thru most files to see what got changed and adjust my mod accordingly. The next version of TGC (mostly likely 0.2/0.2.5 "depending on what they call it" will include this change)

Now onto the work progress. Immigration seems to have been fixed (fingers crossed) and the event spam of countries trying to claim Manchuria, Cuba, or Texas has been mitigated. Furthermore, some balances changes have been done along with some new events and decisions being added. For example, one can now standardize German on "Lower/Upper German" "North/South German" respectively. Moreover, once the game starts you now have the option to enable or disable GEF. Renaming decisions and acquiring Texas has been improved and dusted, along with new names for the provinces TGC will add in the next version.

Lastly, on to the current development. The current state of GEF is slowed down as I am currently busy with college work and have little time on my hands, therefore these implementation might take a while. The following list is sorted from first to be implement to last:

1) Fleshing out events for already exist stuff in Europe, this includes better treaties and expansion plans. These will include reclaiming Burgundy from France, annexing Hungary, annexing Poland, and conquering Northern Italy. However, doing these plans will incur with high infamy cost and debuffs once completed, as governing the new territories will be difficult.

2)More Renaming Decisions in General. Current Plans are:
-French Names for parts of Spain, Italy, and England
-Irish names for Ireland
-Japanese Names for Asia (with Korea already being implement in next version of TGC)
-Russian for eastern parts of Germany, up to around East German borders irl

3)More flavors for the colonies (mostly Cuba and Texas)
-Expansion Plans into Mexico or US for German Texas
-Expansion Plans to unite the Caribbean under German rule
-Independence Movements form both Cuba and Texas (with potential US support)

4)New Colonies:
-Klein Venedig (German Venezuela)
-German South Afrika (either as an expansion of South-West-Africa or as a new Tag)
-German Australia

5)Many more things, which is yet to be decided on which I appreciate wishes on what you guys want.

Overall, this site WILL NOT BE DEAD, as I may still use it as hotfixes on implementations of new GEF features to already existing releases, but the majority of code will now reside in TGC.

Stay safe and enjoy,
Kspeher :)

Found a bug that causes the game to crash if you decide to do the "Reform the Local Government" decision.

Hi Kaiserfranxx,

I have never had that bug before, my question to is.
1) What version are you using of TGC, as the 0.1.5 is very unstable and buggy (if you are using the dev build....GEF is not compatible with it yet).
2) Do you have other mods running along with this?
3) What version of GEF are you using
4) Does this happen with every country or just the one you played?

1) I'm currently using version 0.1.5 of TGC.
2) No other mods beside this and TGC.
3) Version 5.0
4) I have only played as Prussia while using the submod.

Thank you for your reply. It appears most likely an issue with TGC 0.1.5. I would recommend redownloading both mods and clearing the cache. I have not touched the "reform local government decision", therefore I have little understanding of it. However, does it crash when clicking it or when hovering over it, I.e. you cant click it without a crash? You can also try alternate versions of GEF to see if one works.

If all fails please go to: Github.com

download the 5.0 version from there, the dev. build version is to old to work.

Great mod! But a few bugs bug me.

Starting from late 1880's, the events concerning Germany's 'special' colonies (Texas, North Asia, etc) begin to spam Germany uncontrollably. Whether it's USA and Texas, or Russia and Manchurian possessions (which I didn't even own while playing as Germany), the procedure is the same: event pops up, I go to war, win, and literally the second I peace out the country, it declares war on me again, and like that infinite amount of times. And if I choose to willingly give up colonies, either the event repeats itself again, or the game straight up crashes. I only managed to stop the 'event assault' by making USA disappear all together. Coincidentally, events from Russia stop appearing too.

Also, regarding German Texas. First, while German Texas has the option to expand its territory, only the colony itself has that option, and AI doesn't really do anything to achieve it. I think Prussia/Germany should be involved in expanding Texas, perhaps by an event where the country finances the colony. Additionally, when Texas (the new Imperial Texas, not original) does expand, it doesn't get all the provinces cored, creating a split.

I look forward to seeing fixes!

I will look into it, the Texas split is intentional, as it is supposed to mirror the irl plans from the Adelsverein.

Suggestion: Finish the west bank of the rhine event chain. In HFM, it was supposed to be that France integrates the germans there (represented by a "Rhinelander" culture that was removed) after progressive reforms. The culture was removed and the event chain left unfinished for some reason. The integration bonuses you get in the Natural Borders events don't work either due to the german and rhinelander cores in the region, which kinda defeats the purpose of the modifier.

Maybe find a way to settle the west bank issue diplomatically with the German Confederation. Having to focus all my military resources into beating them into white peace before Great War is researched gets boring after a while.

EDIT: There's also the More Stuff mod for HFM, which adds a way for Austria to create a reduced Italy and core Venice, among other stuff.

I have looked into it, it appears the devs. are drastically changing the mod in many places. I won't be implementing it as they are working on it themselves. Moreover, cultures are changing right now in game and they removed many "unused" cultures. Thus, I won't be looking into it anymore. However, I do have something similar planned in the future. Either as "French Extra Flavour" or just another minor update to the mod.

For anyone downloading the mod, you need TGC to run the mod. Moreover, while most province names have been fixed, some exceptions and miss named province may still appear. Moreover, it appears the current version 0.1.5 is very unstable, thus with and without this mod you may experience many crashes.

One event you could have for later, Germany in the 1880s had plans for taking Spain Caribbean islands, There could be 2 ways it can go down, either take it from spain, or take it from the USA if they took them, and if you take it from spain there should be chance the USA will intervene.

Historically the plan Kaiser Wilhelm II had made was a blockade of the US east coast after eliminating their fleet with an even larger fleet, but if blockades aren't a possible prerequisite for an event, a fallback plan could be their second plan after the USA took the islands and have it so you need to occupy Boston and New York for an event to have them come to the table and give them up.

This would be an interesting scenario, though considering that it would clearly be even less probable than keeping Texas till 1936, I would have to further look into that.
