Bugs and CTD problems Thread - Global Storm mod for Battlefield 2

This is a new bug/ctd reporting section. Here you can learn how to report a problem and possible ways to fix it.

Please note that if you want to report crash, you must run GS or GSSF mod in "window mod".

Notes:

- GlobalStorm = Global Storm V0.8.5
- GlobalStormSF = Global Storm: Special Forces v0.7

First make new shortcut of Battlefield 2, then right click on that shortcut and in target line at the end add this:
" +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 800 +szy 600 +modPath mods/GlobalStorm" (without ""), save and run that shortcut.

Now run the mod and when game crashes it should show you a new window with error description, you write that description here.

Here are few tips that could improved stability of "Battlefield 2" game and mods on Windows Vista and later versions.
- Run "Battlefield 2" in "XP SP3 Compatibility mode " and "run this program as administarator";
- Ingame under sound settings disable "EAX";
- Ingame under sound settings choose Software not Hardware option.

These few tips could work for some people, so good luck with that

If you start seeing black spots/ponds on the map. Then you'll need to delete cache folders.

Go to: "C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Battlefield 2\cache and delete "cache",
also go to
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2 and also delete "cache".

Please follow these instruction when comes to CTD reporting, because I don't have a remote access to your PC, so saying only things like "mod crashes" doesn't mean a damn thing to me.

Mine closes when the loading ends and the HUD starts to appear, I am imagining you probably wrote a wrong directory of a .tga weapon image into the tweak file, but the only bad news is that I don't know which since it appears no CTD at all.

Ugh apparently I changed somehow the folder name, I putted back GlobalStorm and it works like a charm, thanks for your time.. waisted :d

my problem is with globle storm special force

when i loade a map example ghost town ok

i chose the russain spc ops

i get AK-12 PKA scope .

but when i try to AIM with AK 12 PKA scope = i crash back to desktop with no reason i tried the windowed mod but no use it crashes back to desktop with no message error this problem happens to RPK-12 PKA scope too ! which means i got problem with PKA scops and the pkp aimpoint

can you please solve or any tips or anything that can fix this problem i realy want to play with pka scops

Hmm sounds like a conflict with my custom crosshair on PKA optic, bigger problem is that I don't have that problem... For now avoid using weapons with PKA optic.

Have you made any changes to "GlobalStormSF" or "bf2" folder, any changes? Try to delete cache.

and yes i deleted the cache which is in C:\Users\THEAwesomeFd\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\xpack

no use after deleting same error no change

or is there any way i can change the crosshairs point

In order to do the following you will need WinRaR or WinZip or any other program for simple compression installed. WinRaR is free and for me the best.

Inside of "GlobalStormSF" folder go to: "Objects -> GSSF_Weapons_server.zip -> Weapons -> Handheld". Now choose for which weapon you want to change corsshair when you aim, let's do for example "ak12_pka". Open it, in there find and open "ak12_pka.tweak". Tweak file can be opened with Notepad or WordPard, I use Notepad.

Extract "ak12_pka.tweak" on to Desktop, right mouse click on it and select "Properties" then Under "Open With" select "Change with", find and choose Notepad, OK. Now you can delete "ak12_pka.tweak" from your deskotp, since you can edit all *.tweak files from inside of zip. type of files. Once you do it once, you don't have ever to do it again.

Now go back to "Objects -> GSSF_Weapons_server.zip -> Weapons -> Handheld -> ak12_pka". Open in there "ak12_pka.tweak". Now near the beginning of it (15 lines down) you will find this : "ObjectTemplate.weaponHud.altGuiIndex 62" change 62 into 53. Save that file, exit. In WinRaR you will be asked, do you want to replace, you select Yes. And your are done. Start the mod and play. You can also do this to other weapons.

This is tutorial is for Windows based OS, if you have Linux or Mac, I can't help you.
