Genghis Khan: Total War is a total conversion for Barbarian Invasion expansion lead by several modders Nhinhonhinho (mod leader) kirush2 (former) and Allevander (former), it focused on the rise of Genghis Khan and its empire. The campaign starts in 1206, when Temudjin is proclaimed Genghis Khan, leader of all the Mongols. Immediately, the new leader gives a constitution to its people, and starts to expand its realm. The campaign, covering the main part of the Asian continent, allow you to play 20 different factions, each one with its own strengths and weakness, and to build and empire.
Here's the new version of Genghis Khan: Total War. I managed to make it mod folddered. It's mean the mod won't overwrite the original game anymore. Beside I managed to solve one of the major lagging problem too. Cheer.

This is essentially the original mod and campaign from Genghis Khan TW. The campaign files have been cleaned up enought to be ported; it does not mean that the original campaign is complete, balanced or without its own bugs. That said, it should be enjoyable enough to playtest. If anyone finds any issues or has suggestions, please let us know. Modding is a lot of work, and it is easy to overlook stuff we may have missed or introduce our own bugs as well. We may be able to improve the mod further with your help.
That also said, we have further plans for a new and better campaign map as a long term goal. Improvements to the unit rosters and textures are also being looked at. There are still a lot of texture files in the original version that may not have been actually used by the mod. Trimming the mod to just files needed for the gameplay should also be an ideal goal to reduce the overall size of the mod.
- Download the Zip file
- Unzip the download file
- Upon extracting you will receive a folder named "MTW 0.16 5-9-2016". Please change the name of this folder to "mongol"
- Copy or move the "mongol" folder to your Rome Total War installation in the 'bi' folder.
- Create a shortcut to your RomeTW-BI.exe file. Right click the shortcut, click properties, shortcut tab,
copy in the following to the Target line: -nm -mod:bi\mongol -show_err
"C:\Program Files (x86)\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -nm -mod:bi\mongol -show_err
- Launch and Play!
STEAM USERS (cause mod folders work on Steam):
- Right click Rome:Total War in your library, click properties, set launch options, copy in the following: -nm -mod:bi\mongol -show_err
- Click OK. Launch Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion and Play!

- Complete removal of Roma Surrectum environtment
Reason: The incomplete integration of Roma Surrectum environtment caused severe lagging to the game so I removed it. The re-intergration of Roma Surrectum environtment would be consider in the future
- Change the animation of Trebutchet to vanilla Onager
Reason: The removal of Roma Surrectum environtment tragically removed the mod's Trebutchet texture (just blame my lack of knowledge :< )
