By the way, it's not so unrealistic, as it seems to be. Miniature missiles are being produced nowadays. The next step is to combine them with an assault rifle :p
It was already tried, it's called the gyrojet rifle, it was prone to jamming and had a good chance of not firing at all. Even if it did fire, the micro jet (mini rocket) was too slow (but does speed up at around 1200 FPS) and too inaccurate too be an effective weapon. In a nutshell it was a more advanced, more compact rocket propelled musket.
In fact during the seventies the Americans made a rocket firing 18.5mm submachine gun, but it was too expensive to produce.
Also one mini rocket firin pistol maded by germans(orsomeonelse) dont remember the name.
so, a mix between the look of starcraft SM, and the weapons of warhammer 40k SM.
