Downloading now - before I dive in - is the GC functional at all or should I stick with skirmishes until 2.1? I can avoid specific factions if necessary GC is my favorite mode of play
Go to the Galaxies at War 1.0 page and read the installation instructions (downloading it or reading comments may be necessary). But in case you, for whatever reason, cannot find it, make a copy of the FoC folder and copy everything in the ZIP folder for 2.0 and overwrite anything prompted. Then run "swfoc.exe" and it should load. And as a headsup, no custom splashscreen.
try creating shortcut and doing this for target "C:\Program Files\Lucasarts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\swfoc.exe" MODPATH=Mods\MODNAME
not quite remembering exactly how it works, you may have to play around with this a little bit
I do not see a swfoc in the gaw directory if one was meant to be included straight away when it installed. I am just gonna over write the vanilla anyways though.
For some reason, I keep getting the "Art" folder only. 'course I re-downloaded the installer couple of times, and the file's size is same as on the description(around 700mb), plus, installer does not install certain texture file properly because of its name contains a special letter that cannot be read(can't say what it is cause it showed as ??).
It doesn't come with anything, just files! Not any way to launch the mod or anything! God, nothing is ever simple these days with computers! It can't just come with .bat file, I play a mod that uses that to launch it and it's the only thing that I used that works! Everything else is just overwriting the game it-self, the mod can't be separate!
Yeah you have to create a carbon copy of your SWFOC files, delete the folders without any .meg files or megafiles.xml in the data folder. you then place the received files in the data file. Then get the SWFOC.exe that you created in your carbon copy. Create a shortcut of the SWFOC and rename it Galaxies at War.

but I have a bug in my version. everytime I play the halo faction ( it doesn´t matter if its skirmisch or gc) after 1 minute space fight gaw ist ending suddenly I´m on my desktop. no error or something like this nothing. I overwrote gaw 1.0 ike in the installer(delete the folderrs in the data folder. )

the game is in english but there is a mastertextfilegerman , isit because I´m playing the german version of foc or is it a place holder for a german translation? well Icould translate things from halo universe or star wars in geman if you like. but I don´t know how to programmm it for gaw. if you wand you can pin me and send me in a word document or something like that what you wanna get translatet and send it then back and you can make a mastertextile then. I´m a big halo and star wars fan.
When I play as the SGC in skirmish I can only deploy heroes to the battle field and no other units. Also my beginning fighters are Borg and and It shows the Borg symbol not the SGC symbol when it shows where your team is going to start of.
Well, I finally got it to work. Really fun mod! Although I hope the "coming soon" patch fixes up the Stargate factions. And if the devolpors are reading this comment, I was wondering if the 3.0V will come with a BSG faction. Just a suggestion
I have to admit this is a good mod but installing it and making a copy of my whole FOC folder was a nuiscence but worth it. I have yet to try GC yet but I love Skirmish but it can be tricky with enemy ai's
What makes it harder is the enemy can seem to instantly build things, I try to upgrade my station which would take like a minute or two while my ai partner can do it in less then 4 seconds, feel a bit overpowered at times.
Do I need to download 1.0 and then 2.0? I've looked around and seen no answer to this o.o, I'm trying to download 1.0 just in case but I cant connect to gamefront Dx and all othere sites with the name "File" in it hate me basicly -.-
SG cannot capture nutral places and they cannot deploy any units apart from heros. could you make a boundry between the units in the Federation as they fly through each other which looks kinda strange
hey i have empire at war gold and i have tried just about everything. every time i try to start the game it takes me straight to empire at war not corruption please help

Cane Some1 help me ? The new planets, new ships and new heroes etc. are named as "missing" (most of them) - And there is only one GC - mode which is called "Trek Wars". The Faction-names are "missing" too (not the Federation)

PLEASE! Someone help me! This mod looks really damn cool but I cant play it. I have everything in right but I just dont know where the starter for the mod is. Like the BAT.exe or Application starter is. Please someone message me or comment on here how to get it! I check on EVERY day.
Hmmmm. Always did love Clickteams Install Creator program. So fantastic its as buggy as hell and highly temperamental. I get this installation error (4 install attempts, 3 redownloads):
ART\LOADMENUBACK.DDS
CONTAINS INVALID DATA (ERROR 21FC)
I seriously suggest using either a zip, RAR or 7ZIP compressed archive. Also why not have the mod folder setup fully functional?? Its not difficult and you'll not have as many people questioning how to install.
Anyone want to try an alternative method try installing the following:
1. Create new folder on your desktop and call it something (but make sure there are no spaces in your folder name): Example folder "NORMAN"
2. Install the mod to NORMAN folder. If all goes well you should have the mod installed and fully contained in one folder with its sub folder structure intact.
3. Open your Forces of Corruption main folder (the one that contains the swfoc.exe file) and create a folder called MODS.
4. Copy/paste the folder NORMAN from your desktop to the MODS folder.
5. Open Notepad and copy/paste this line below into a new document:
swfoc MODPATH=Mods\NORMAN
6. Save this file as Galaxies At War.BAT
7. Create a desktop shortcut to this bat file and then try running the mod from your new shortcut. That should be it.
Now some might ask the question. "If you can't install the mod how do you know if it works??" Simple answer: It should but then anything can happen and this was taken from my own installation of another mod which I know works. Be warned though. This is for the standard version of FoC and with the game installed on WinXP.

So I'm having difficulties. Not with the installation or anything, but with the gameplay. No matter what faction I choose, or what strategy I try, I always lose. I haven't managed to win a single skirmish game, even against an easy AI.
Does anyone have any tips? What am I doing wrong? Every enemy I face seems to be able to send wave after wave of top tier ships at me within minutes, while I have difficulties building a few frigates.
My very first game was empire v federation over coruscant. I built three acclamators to fend off any attacks while upgrading, and managed to build the two hero unit star destroyers (thrawn and the other guy). at that point, I'm assailed by endless wave after wave of federation vessels. They literally never stop coming. Somehow the other AI has managed to fully upgrade their base, claim all the mining asteroids, and amassed an enormous fleet in the span of 4 minutes. I checked the after game report, and I literally elliminated at least 30 ships, lost only 4, and still lost because I couldn't kill them fast enough. Is my enemy AI supposed to have unlimited money? I tried again, this time building huge amounts of smaller ships, but still ended up fighting double the number of equivalent vessels from the other side.
I've tried to send fighters immediately to mining asteroids, but by the time I get there they are already built up and claimed by the other side. The other side also seems to be able to upgrade their base twice as fast as I'm able to. Is this a design feature? I feel like its impossible to win. Its kind of frustrating. I get that this is supposed to be faster paced, but I feel like even easy AI has a ridiculously unfair advantage.
I click on upgrade base the second the game starts, and before its done the other base is upgraded and halfway to a second upgrade.
Would someone mind giving me a few tips? I feel like I must be missing something important.
This is exactly the problem I got when trying this. It seems enemies do not require time to create their units or upgrades or something. They managed to do three base upgrades before I even did one. Within two minutes of starting the game, I had a Death Star in front of my base.

yes but they arn't 100% finished YET, and I think they are currently only avalible in skirmish but not for long.
i have found some bugs:
-the goa uld faction is not finish for me(they have no starbase)
-the tauri faction works but you cant build any mines in skirmish mode

GC is fully functional with everything but Stargate, Enemies of the Tau'ri, Unity, and Flood. Everyone else is there, active, and functional.

What zip file? When I downloaded it, I got an application to install the mod, which I used. Buuut it kinda didn't do anything.

I did and only the original game was launched. Btw, I have Win7 64 bit if that means anything
you could try a mod launcher program if you don't already have one

If you use the mods directory, the modified resource file will not work, and the in-game menus will only display 3 or 4 factions before cutting off.
You need to launch the swfoc.exe that is located in the Galaxies at War directory...

Managed to get it working by just replacing sci fi at war with it after backing up those files. so now I can just use that short cut.

You guys have some pretty crazy computers...I tested the installer on XP and Windows 7 on 4 different machines...all of them checked out 100%
I tested the installer downloaded from Moddb and it worked.
My best advice is try again.

Whenever I play in skirmish, then the only faction the computer works as is the Zann Consortium...
And Stargate is broken.
But anyway it's a really cool mod, and i REALLY enjoy playing it!
Just the fact that i can only go against the zann consortium.

nope, you don´t need 1.0 just download 2.0

Woops just noticed that 2.0 is an .exe not just a data rar like 1.0 so the install will be completely different.
