Gamma Energy visits the Aperture Science East facility, built after GLaDOS gained sentience. The goal was to create a facility where GLaDOS' research could be examined and tested without harm to employees or other people who actually... mattered, without her knowledge. Pick up a prototype Portal Device and try not to die.
Aperture East is built in a hollowed-out mountain. This should only make that more apparent.
This looks interesting, whats the story behind it?
Aperture East was the brainchild of Joseph Brown, a conceited executive at Aperture Science who escaped from the Enrichment Center after the Bring-Your-Daughter-To-Work-Day fiasco. His vision was to capture GLaDOS' incredible power for research without placing anyone in harm's way. A second Enrichment Center was created inside an abandoned mine in East Europe, in order to test her scientific theories under human supervision. Meanwhile, six of the greatest living programmers at Aperture (most of whom had worked on the original GLaDOS project) designed a hack that would allow remote access to GLaDOS' research database that no one dared approach, fearing their lives. Unfortunately for Aperture, this plan didn't quite work out.
I've written a great deal more at Gammaenergy.net
Your log has some grammar and spelling errors in the first two logs, but overall it is good for story.
Great atmosphere though...
wow nice tunnel, though that looks like a ghost light, has I got a source? E.G. a light-bulb or a fluorescent tube. Great Mapping though and good atmosphere.
There are two spotlights here just out of frame. One is directly above the image and the other is around the corner. Many of the chambers are lit through those metal blocky walls though, and I'm still not certain what those lights are or where they come from.
I hope that this ends up being right next to Black Mesa East, and you accidentally end up there because of a cave in, and then a Rebel blows open a wall with explosives and then finds you, under a rock... with the prototype Portal Gun still clenched in your hands... but broken...
Dr. Vance salvages the least-damaged components of the prototype portal gun and invents the Gravity Gun.
