2011 release renamed to: G STRING BETA. The Dec. 19 2011 release is now referred to as a beta release- read the mod's "news" to see why. Download the beta in the mod's "downloads" section.
I'm really unsure about the future version, which I'm still looking forward to and which is promising to be unforgettable, but the current 2011 beta version is a disgrace.
Level design is confusing. The locales are awesome, they feel like a proper dystopia, but they combine absolutely unorthodox navigation puzzles with messy geometry that frustrate. There are no hints, either, so you'll have to figure everything out yourself by climbing into fences and looking for some nooks and crannies.
The thing is unstable and buggy, too.
Also some special effects are merely distracting from environment, and quite some things like NPCs look just plain ugly.
Seriously, I really hope the future version will be way better than this and will rework old levels and bugs, because the world, while cliche borderline post-apocalyptic dystopia, is still fantastic.
Highest Rated (13 agree) 8/10
At first let me tell you that I review the 1.0 version here. This mod is one single masterpiece. It takes a place now in my hall of fame hl2 mod list in my head, I wish I could give it a 10, I really wish, but sadly there are some flaws which makes it impossible todo so for me. The good things: This mod does have a straight out amazing atmosphere. Everything fits, the level design is impressive to revolutioning. You walk over house roofs then down to the canals to get back into a house to cross…
