Freelance is an assassin total conversion for Vice City. You play as Daniel Cain, one of the best freelance assassins in Liberty city. Your intermediary has decided that you should move your wares to Vice City, where business is expected to boom. The game picks up as you arrive at the airport terminal. You can expect new weapons (including the Barrett M82A1 .50 rifle, which will set most cars on fire with one round, and a customized Desert Eagle .50 Action Express), new vehicles (such as a 1967 Pontiac GTO), new disguises, plenty of new missions, and new areas of the city to explore (like the Greasy Chopper bar). A new crosshair has been designed, and scoped weapons all have new reticles. This mod is designed to closely resemble the nature of actual hits. For some hits, you're given a target, where they live, where they work, and any other known information. These will all be delivered through an intuitive briefing system that will allow us to include long briefings that you can review,...

Freelance, the realistic assassin total conversion for Vice City, has just completed a weapons overhaul. Several planned weapons have been removed, and several new ones have been added. Overall, the arsenal is quite different and seems to have more balance.

There is an equation out there called the Hatcher formula that allows one to calculate the relative stopping power of a weapon, where a rating over 40 or 50 will drop the average adult. I calculated the Hatcher value for each of the weapons in the mod and doubled it, from 50 dropping someone to 100. Now the damage stats are much more realistic, with SMGs having the most stopping power but very short range, and rifles have less stopping power but greater penetration and accuracy over distances. All-in-all, I'm quite pleased with the results.

More information about the revised arsenal can be found here. We're working hard to get a playable teaser out to you by early 2004.
