Forgotten Hope 2 is an award-winning World War II modification for Battlefield 2TM and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942TM, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942TM featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and now to FH2.
Forgotten Hope 2 for BF2 builds on the success of Forgotten Hope 1 for BF1942.
The creators did an amazing job of bringing WW2 to life, the maps are absolutely stunning and visual fidelity is above and beyond anything on BF2 and most other engines. The attention to detail on all things really stands out, the soldier weapons, vehicles, buildings, trenches, defenses all seem like they were meticulously researched and modeled to be as accurate as possible. Theres many good effects including a wonderful suppression effect when getting shot at, as well as a grayed "Bleed out" screen when you get hit. It all comes together in a wonderful way to make FH2 extremely attractive to look at and just soak in the WW2 atmosphere.
The sounds are good, with the solid bullet "snaps" really making you afraid of incoming fire, and all the various weapons have somewhat authentic sounds, vehicle sounds do need a little work maybe, especially with distances its hard to hear vehicles from more than 100m away.
The gameplay is where FH2 falls flat on its face, which is probably the biggest factor as to why FH2 servers are mostly ghost towns at most times and why only a handful of german/european servers ever seem to get populated. FH2 did little to change the arcade style gameplay of BF2, keeping all the same gameplay mechanics, making FH2 a real chore to play and offering little to no incentive to use teamwork or any kind of authentic tactics.
Most rounds of FH2 on public servers consists of spawning, running somewhere quickly and dying with 10-15 seconds, and repeat ad-nauseum. There are no medics, tons of spawn points everywhere and not much point to playing as a combined team. Most FH2 players dont use mics.
For all the hard work FH2 team has done on the visual and audio aspects of the mod, trying to make things as authentic as possible (And suceeding!) it seems that the gameplay took a backseat in the development and it definitely shows, which ultimately makes FH2 a forgettable mod

Historically correct, crude and with lots of violence, completely realistic, action in the most pure level, what else can be said about it? one of the biggest, and in my opinion, greatest modifications ever done for BF2, brings us the real feeling of the WW2. Epic.
