About Flanders Fields
In 1914, the world was tossed into turmoil when Archduke Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by a Serbian radical, bringing Europe, and the world, into a 4 year, 8.5 Million Lives Lost struggle, which we call The First World War. In every war, there are a few battles which stand above the rest, for whatever reason.

In Flanders Fields looks at battles throughout the war on the Western Front. From the mining town of Loos in 1915, to the bloodbath of Passchendaele, In Flanders Fields aims to capture the reality of war in the trenches, while giving a good, solid and atmospheric gaming experience to hardcore wargamers and casual players alike.

About The Name Of The Mod
No, you won't see Homer with an Enfield in his hand. In Flanders, Belgium, in 1915, there was a Canadian medical officer by the name of John McCrae who etched a short poem in his handbook. In December of 1915, that poem was published, and became world renown.

For more information on John McCrae in a Histor!ca Minute (a series of commercials about Canadian History on Canadian television stations), click here. To read the chilling poem, visit this site.

News

I think alot of us
have seen this coming with the lack of updates from the team, and the
fact that we have not had a decent media release since Janurary, but,
we have decided to close the doors of In Flanders Fields. The mod has
not made much progress over the whole of this year and we honestly
think it would be a waste of everyones time to keep the mod open and
keep up false hope when nothing to getting done on the development of
the mod.

I know the community that we have left visiting the
forums and the site will be very disappointed with this news, and you
can be rest assured we tried our asses off to get some new blood for
the mod to keep it alive and to keep the wheels rolling on development
but it just never turned out that way, since the major staff loss in
January the mod has never recovered since then.

We thank the
community left for being so loyal through the slumps of the mod and
stayed on the forums posting even though it was looking very very grim,
with the lack of updates and so forth, we also thank former community
members who have posted throughout the mods life and been a part of the
community in the past but for various reasons no longer post on the
forums anymore.

To current and former developers on the mod we
thank you for your efforts that you made on the mod, even if your work
may not see the light of day.
The forums and site will stay online, please feel free to hang around if you want to.

But as they say, this is curtains, Rest In piece Somme Valley / In Flanders Fields, we may come to resurrect you someday soon.

And of course, the poem we are named after create by John McCrae.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.
- John McCrae
