Flakes Doom is a GAA1992's mod for Doom that focuses on combining elements from several games of the id Software's franchise, but without changing its original gameplay radically. It's basically a weapons pack, more powerful than the vanilla arsenal, but not very overpowered such as Combined Arms, Mechatron or Russian Overkill.
In fact, its name is a twist on the Vanilla Doom's name, because it keeps the rest of the gameplay untouched and because GAA1992 likes vanilla ice cream, but flakes ice cream is better. However, despite the focus on maintaining the "pure" game's mechanics, Flakes Doom features some extra weapon-related stuff, such as altfires and grenades. It also features several resources adapted from different games or mods.
It also adds some cool aesthetic effects like casing and smokes, and it supports several other games like Doom II: Hell on Earth, Doom, The Ultimate Doom, Final Doom, Freedoom, Hexen, Chex Quest, Chex Quest 3, Heretic, Strife, Return of the Triad, Hacx 2.0 and Adventures of Square. Flakes Doom v2.6b was released in March, 6 2018. It's almost complete, according to GAA1992 and I don't think he'll be updating it again anytime soon.
The main updates of the mod since the 2.3, the last version I covered, consist briefly in weapon balancing, a good number of bug fixing, increased compatibility with other mods and improvements of several of the PWAD's graphics and other features, to a greater or lesser extent.

I'm loving the aesthetic and how well the weapons handle overall. The sounds are great, the animations are seamless for a retro style and I love how each weapon is useful in its own right as opposed to being downsized by a better alternative. At first, I wasn't a fan of the voxel models for the consumables like health packs, armour, etc. But they grew on me, same with the HUD. Great pack for Community Chest and other maps with no particular themes involed!
A few small thing I would like to address are the customisability of weapon ALT-fire modes in the menu, more would be great if possible. And a small thing about the plasma rifle is the muzzle flare which shows as more of it's classic saturated blue colour, and then you have the actual projectiles which are a lighter blue. Perhaps a matching colour palette on that particular weapon would be nice. One last thing is the H.A.R which still shows the secondary ammo value when you switch to the scoped modification instead of the missiles, I don't know if that's intentional.

I like this mod and the multiplayer balance of guns and movement. But sometimes we have a compatibility problem with the players and auto-download because all the updates have the same name. if you could add the version number in the name of the .pk3 it would help us a lot, like the name of .zip
