Firearms: Source is a team based first person shooter, rooted in the traditions of the Firearms mod for Half-Life. Firearms: Source brings the best aspects of Firearms to the Source engine, and then takes them a step further. You'll see a host of familiar weapons and maps, but you'll find the streamlined game play to be faster, focusing on aggressive, skilled play. From nearly the moment you spawn you can expect to be engaged in furious action.

April Fools! I am so glad that you guys were such great sports, and received our April Fools post so well. All the credit goes to StealthSilver for the concept and the hilarious FANet image, and to Naota for the brilliant write-up. To those of you who didn't realize it was our annual April Fools joke, you need not worry. There is no FANet, nor will there ever be one. So, to thank you for taking the April Fools joke so well, here is something that everybody loves... SPAM!

Today, we have some renders of our M67 Fragmentation Grenade and our M84 Stun Grenade. These two items play an integral part in FA gameplay by either providing indirect fire or assists you in rushing the enemy. The M67 Frag comes in at 2 credits, but its usefulness outweighs its cost. The frag is perfect for clearing MG nests and just throwing enough spam at the enemy can cause them to fall back. The M84 costs 3 credits, but blinds everyone within a larger radius to allow your entire team to rush ahead if you are ever stuck in a choke point. The M84 Stun Grenade is also more potent indoors, so make sure you use it wisely.

We also have to show you a new feature to help new comers get acclimated with Firearms: Source gameplay faster. You may recognize it from L4D and L4D2, which is where we got the inspiration from. As you can see from the screenshots, the Red Force's weapon crates are highlighted in red, and the Blue Force's weapon crates are highlighted in blue. The ammo boxes and other neutral objects will most likely be highlighted in green or yellow. These cues will help the new players realize that these objects are interactive (and explosive!). This highlighting feature can also be integrated down the line with skills like the Leadership Aura or showing where the closest medic is.

Thank you very much for sticking with us! Keep following us on Moddb, Twitter, and Facebook and stop by the forums if you haven't already.

You should probably give credit to the coder on the GoldenEye Source team for making the outline effect.
