Years ago, Tara's parents were murdered in cold blood in a New York apartment. This mod would be given a 10 if it weren't for two things: the subway labyrinth and the final boss who sometimes likes to spam rockets at you. Now that those gripes are out of the way, I will say this about the mod that's impressive: using certain Wolf 3D sprites for the game's environments like the dogs getting reused, the downed SS troops as downed policemen, and the beds from Wolf 3D being used as prison beds and other places. The uzis from Shadow Warrior are real neat (though I gotta remember a young goth girl is holding them and not an old blazing ninja), the settings were rather flashy but they fit nicely with the aesthetic of the game overall. A shame there was no rocket launcher but the ability to duel-wield pistols, uzis, and m16s made up for it. Some of the sounds are what I have heard in Krucible and for some weird reason the shotgunners from DOOM actually fit in very well with the enemy roster of the game and it's nice that they have more human sounds rather than demon sounds and unironically, they're still shotgunners in this Wolf 3D mod. I do also like that a couple of the bosses were wearing mech suits with duel chainguns like Wolf 3D's Hans Grosse and the game's ending was much more satisfying and I think a sequel should be well in order now that Tara is set. Overall a great mod that I almost want to give a 10 but those couple gripes hurt it but not that bad which is why in reality, I'm giving this mod a 9.5/10 Another high quality mod from the mad man (or mad wolf) himself. This is an excellent mod. You'll have a couple hours of fun. Until you reach the prior mentioned bug on level 23 that kills the mod. This bug does not allow the player to advance.
I would have given this mod a score of 9 or 10, but this bug ruins the experience.
What can I say? A REALLY neat environment, a catching story and a nice variety of weapons...what else do you want? Only some bugs plaguing the experience, but nothing that cannot be addressed
Intersting setting for Wolf 3D. I enjoy the dual wielding of weapons and the SPAS-12 shotgun. The new features like weapon pickup and being able to buy health with points makes the game more fun! THe new enemies and textures are cool.
