just add vegetation all over the map (use autoveg), and then start walking. you will see then immediately if its possible.
if then the performance drops to 10% as long you walk, then the cryengine physicbug is there.
it comes definitaly on 8k maps and often on 4kmaps.

edit:
ok, i ignored the fact you use CE2 instad of CE1.4, so this bug is maybe already patched.
is the heightmap working ? i tried it once in opposite direction and i got some distractions in z dimension ?

I have not loaded this in sandbox yet. I won't have access to the machine until May. I am going to work on getting the islands in a row and linking them into maybe one on the heightmap bmp. I will do what you said with the autoveg and test walking when I have the heightmap in the sandbox.
It is going to be about 4 times the area of island.cry on half the map size (2048 instead of 4096). Then I can reduce the accessible area by having sheer cliffs on the mountainsides and so have about 3 times the island.cry map densely decorated area. I have my doubts too but maybe it will work.

Description

Comparison of the game area in Crysis first level (island.cry) and my proposed one level map for FarCry reloaded. It is not clear at the moment if this can be done regarding performance. It would be 5 times the accessible game area of Crysis island.cry and maybe that is just too much. Researching this.
