This is the full mod. Just drag and drop. Read Me included. You can remove all reshade stuff from your bin folder.

Really? Wow.
Why is the file size so significantly smaller?

'Cause no ReShade I'm assuming.

The reshade fiels only contributed a little over 3MB of data. Something's different in the patch.dat file in the 1.1 release.

Is there somewhere we can still access the upscaled textures? I'd like to use them. Sorry if it's obvious, I am new to this site

They're still hosted on Boggalog's Vanilla+ Mod DB page.

Hello. I ran into a problem - when I tried to put this mod on the disk (license) version 1.3 + Fortunas pack, then I have the Wwwwwww line in the main menu and in the game itself, a transparent strip of half a centimeter is observed in the middle of the screen, especially visible when you put it on vegetation or trees. The stripe is available in both color versions of the mod. There is no vanilla version.

Use the Steam or GOG version. They're DRM free and only $3 right now.

I have the retail disk and it can't even be installed anymore due to securom servers going down years ago. I would suggest not using that version ever again.

After installing patch 1.3 on the disk version, DRM protection is disabled. I also tried with the GOG version, but there is the same problem. I don't even have any thoughts about what the problem is, but I know that there are no such problems with the Steam version.

So does this version not have that dull colourless filter or pallete that the base game had?

Im having a bit of technical issue where my characters position isnt shown within the map when holding the map (it appears on the gps though): Imgur.com

Any guess as to what might be causing this visual bug?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hey,

That's intentional, and part of the mod. The map is the "big picture" and the GPS is the immediate vicinity. Part of Redux is the quick "navigation puzzle" that steers the player towards learning the map, while feeling like they're in an unfamiliar place.

You use the map to view your surroundings, and the GPS to view your position. Match the topography to orient yourself.

Give it a shot. It's incredibly immersive.

What changed in the update that came out today? do I need to start a new game?

I had downloaded the mod just yesterday

It has reduced the silenced makarov's magazine size to a more realistic 8, no need to start a new game.

Whilst I like the changes, I do feel that I'm sometimes too easily killed by enemies that I've not seen, even on the easier difficulty settings. It'd be cool if some of the changes of this mod (like the removal of Reshade) could be applied to Vanilla+ and Chill+ too. I can make some changes myself, like the reduction of malaria attacks, but there are others that I simply wouldn't have any idea on how to change.

The removal of the reshade and the new outpost respawn script will make it to Vanilla+ and Chill+ eventually, this mod is the focus for now.

is it the intended behavior for safehouses not show at all on the map?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
BigTinz Author
BigTinz - - 1,530 comments

Correct. You need to find them, and then they will be added to your map.

Look for the "safehouse" signs, and check your map for standalone black squares.

Which version of scubrah's outpost mod is this using? Only I noticed his mod was updated 9th Oct 2022 over on Nexus Mods, and the description refers to a 30 minute timer before respawns take place, whilst the description for Realism+ Redux states "Increased range for outpost respawns".

So is this mod based on player range (distance) from the outpost before the enemies respawn, or is it based on a 30 minute timer after clearing the outpost?

This is using the newest version, but without the popup/sound. It's tested working great. This mod also has certain outposts removed, which is from the Redux mod.

Has anyone been able to patch and keep playing on existing saves? I'm talking about going from one version of Realism+ Redux to any other. It's obviously my saves, crashing midway through loading, while a new game works fine. I'm specifically using the first release...

Sorry, it's not possible. To many significant changes under the hood.

However, we're past that phase now, and it won't happen again. All saves from here on out will remain compatible.

Grab the newest version, and you'll be good to go.

In the version uploaded today - Slightly reduced chance of enemies having a flamethrower, and reverted the "mark icons" button to click instead of hold.

Nothing major!

Hi. One question please. Why there is no direction arrow on my map, only on GPS? It's kind of hard to navigate without it.

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
BigTinz Author
BigTinz - - 1,530 comments

Because maps don't have magic arrows! A big part of Redux is the "navigation puzzle" of the updated map system.

You use your map to see the big picture, and your GPS to help orient yourself.

Think of the GPS as a transparent puzzle piece that you need to overlay on the map. Your GPS arrow always shows where you're facing, so match the topography and you'll find your location.

I think this also encourages using the road signs, building familiarity with the world, and reinforcing the feeling that you're an outsider in this place.

Stick with it. It will grow on you.

Oh, so "it's a feature, not a bug". :) Makes sense. I'll give it a try, though an option would have been nice.
Made myself crazy reinstalling and starting a new game thinking I've done something wrong.
Thanks for clarifying.

Oh, sorry man. Yes, a feature! I really like the feel of it this way.

I don't know when, but eventually we will release an installer version that will offer the full or a shorter taxi ride, player position on the map, etc.

That res/detail combo doesn't play well with this mod.

Try this and please let me know. If it works, I'll release it for everyone on a lower res screen like that. DX9 only!

Great job by the team! Would it be possible to extend the respawn timer by changing some values in the config files? 30 mins is still too much for me >.>

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes

BigTinz - - 1,530 comments

Yes that's possible.

Unpack the mod with the mod tools from the Far Cry 2: Redux page. Find the outpost scripts in the unknown folder, and open them with something like notepad++.

Change the timer to whatever you want. It's currently 1800 for 30 min, so 3600 would make it an hour.

The original colors...

They act like a perfect filter, the world seems more realistic with it.
And some low textures blend better in, like the hanging pieces of meat in the Slaughterhouse as a good example.
