Fallout: New California adds an all new story around a new player character, an adopted resident of Vault 18, embarking on a journey through the wastelands of the New California Republic's Cajon Pass. An unofficial prequel to New Vegas, FPB adds hours of new gameplay and a fully voiced stand alone campaign.
Very lore friendly, excellent voice acting with believable characters. Despite some criticism from users, the vault is well laid out and easily navigable and is a truly interesting place to explore with plenty of attention to detail.
I'm happy to report that I've found a mod here with plenty of text based fluff, leading to greater immersion and a more believable world.
Some fantastic jokes and sometimes some jibes at the players expense (for my second playthrough I maxed out some of my S.P.E.C.I.A.L skills to make life a little easier leading to some...unintended dialogue options) made this mod a joy to play.
The only thing that has prevented me from giving this a 10 is some minor bugs that occasionally crop up. I'm sure these will be fixed in due course.
Congratulations to the team that built the mod, and I for one, will be looking to the next instalment with baited breath.
Excellent mod,
They have done a very impressive job about the voice acting, personnally my favorite is the warlord of the raiders.
The start of the mod in the vault is awesome because they are a good amount of differents paths you can take and also because it was then you get to know many importants caracters and even get attached to some.
Finally, I liked also the puzzles, I couldn't complete one even with the right combinaison, unfortunate but not a big deal.
They are a few new weapons and armors design compared to the base game but they are cool.
Also, a good amount of locations to discover, the desert military air bases was fun to explore.
For the music part, obviously new tracks, the pirate radio has epic metal musics, don't know why Bethesda don't put hits like that in their Nuka World dlc. The ncr one add new country vibes, i like them both, i used the pirate radio for combats et ncr for exploration, it was relaxing and mad at times.
They are high quantity of perks, maybe too much because when you chain with a new vanilla game and you had kept your character from the mod, you are kind of overpowered but there again it's not a big deal.
For the bad parts, some characters don't have background and these have "unique" designs so i think that the devs had plans for them but i totally understand they don't have time or ressources to develop them, it is already huge what they did.
After the vault part, they are less choices and paths to make.
I did all the factions quests and they have the same conclusion and often are twins but of course
for certains factions, the consequences after you finish the mod are differents between them. I do like the turnaround of one of the faction of the mod in the base game.
That's it, this mod is great, many thanks to the people who made this mod for their huge work and to allow us to see what a fan community can bring to the universes we love.
This is the best mod that I ever played, and probably it will keep that place. But I only have two issues with the mod: the companions, that are really good, but I think it could be better if they added 1 or 2 companions that were in the wasteland, and not that all of them are in the Vault, but this is the minor issue that i have. But the biggest issue in my opinion is the optimization in low specs computers. My New vegas runs well in most of the cases, but in some locations of the mod the FPS drops a lot, but the issues that i have with mod doesn't change the fact that mod feels like something that a AAA company could do.
It's got a great amount of storyline content for a mod. I'd happily have paid for this as an official expansion. The only thing that might throw you off is the shift away from the western feel that was in new vegas. Nevertheless it's a great mod that just adds more content on top of NV. Great stuff.
Surprisingly high quality with a vast amount of content for a fan-made mod!
Nice Nice and Nice!
Amazing... it includes a fantastic story with new locations and a warm refresh from the orbital bombardment of watering down the RPG(Fallout 4/76). It lacks side quests and is buggy, but that can obviously be expected considering this project is powered primarily by two amazing people. With 11 to 12 separate endings, which are actually affected by your choices in-game, The story has so many potential hours put into it and I sincerely hope you guys get an opportunity to work at Obsidian if that is something you want to do. #Heroes
This mod is amazing. It feel like a official dlc from obsidian:great voice acting, great story, good replay vaule and good world building. However,i'm giving it 9/10 because of balances and frame rate issue.Since you push New Vegas engine to the limit, some area of the game have a very slow fps, especially where intense combat happening, and enemies is ways too much at low level.Overall, the mod is great, worth the download
I just finished my first play through of the mod (Beta 204) and I was very impressed with the amount of work that went into this. The climax of the mod is especially amazing!
The companions and quest characters are fully voiced, there are many new environments and fun weapons.
The combat is challenging but fair.
This mod is worth any fan of Fallout New Vegas's time. I have an extreme amount of respect for the developers and I hope that their future work is just as successful.
Great mod - almost as big as the original game. Works great, nearly flawless gameplay. Only found a few bugs, but no more than a game that costs $49.
Great job, guys!
