I was surprised to hear we had won awards this year. I found out about them by checking to see who won!
We are overshooting our planned release date by several months while struggling to keep up the energy to finish, and with Fallout 4 released, the big league behemoth, a lot of people expected that to eclipse us completely.
But much to our great surprise, we not only won a nice nod in the top 100, we were awarded an Editor's Choice and won a Player's Choice to go along with the one we got in 2013. It seems our audience since then has tripled, and more people than ever are waiting on us to be done.
Today, we are celebrating the first resurrection of Project Brazil. On January 15th, 2012, we brought the project back from oblivion when RickerHK joined the team.
I had completed a major stint with a broadcast company, running around chasing the military and private aid organizations, and I came home to watch a girl I loved get married to another guy. I kinda realized staring up at the sky that night outside the wedding venue that I hadn't been there in a long time. I'd left home and not looked back since I'd quit FPB in 2010. So I restarted Project Brazil and decided that I'd do this to reorient my portfolio from working for others to working more towards creative agency. I was tired of waiting to be given opportunities to prove myself. I had to create something of my own.
I drew this the night after the wedding, sitting on my friend's bed, to give myself an idea of where to go:
By February that world looked like this:
When we released in May 2013, that world had morphed into this one, which to be honest was very barren and almost lifeless, failing to justify is scope and scale, and it wasn't scripted with quests yet either:
For our release of BETA 200, NafNaf_95 and I spent 2015 turning that old world into this one, replete with original 3d assets, new textures, renovated level designs, new sky boxes, new grass, and it's chock full of quests coded by Rick and Seddon, and unique places to explore:
In March of 2012, we had developed the new Vault 18 using vanilla assets. It took about 3 months to build basically from scratch with the help of Cambragol's Vault 88 resources, and Meo3000's extra models.
I have spent the last few months redeveloping our art assets with a wholly new approach, and it just wouldn't be fair to leave our ancient starting area in the dust bin after renovating so much else. So we've gone back to re-voice some old lines with a now complete vision, making the antiquated Nerd/Athlete branch a re-branded Warrior / Scientist path, the Vault has a new atrium that does away with the labyrinth, and makes use of a hub and spoke system with lots of signs. There is virtually no way to get lost down there now. :p
Tau 34RUS and I have basically totally renovated all the armours you'll see in game to their new higher resolution and more elaborate design. Vlad really outdid himself on the new security armours. They look stunning!
So for Part 2, you'll quickly see a brand new Project Brazil. New Armours, Weapons, Textures, from the first loading screen to the final credits.
Keep up to date with us here as we fight our way across 2016! We'll be releasing as soon as we are able. There's still a good chunk of programming left to be done!
You can read more about our progress on the Design Documents Found Here. In the mean time, you can keep track of us on ModDB, Fallout Nexus, or Facebook. We've got a thriving online community centred around each one.
Cheers

wow this is looking absolutely amazing.
So is this going to add on to the main game?
I think it would be better if it was independent or at least separate from the rest of the game to prevent things getting too messy.
It starts as a new game, and only goes to New Vegas after the final credits.
Keep it up guys! I'm sure it'll be finished when it is and it'll be all the more better for it rather than being rushed out the gate.
It's the burnout that's slowing progress now. :p We hit it usually every 4 months. This phase isn't as bad as others though.
Hell yeah. Awesome stuff. Keep up the good work!
epic story! good read
Good show lads! :D
This is really good work! Keep it up!
Looks pretty good! After I completed Fallout 4 (well, not really completed as in 100%) I'm sure looking forward to this because Fallout 4 kinda disappointed me on the story and dialogue part. I'd love to try this out!
Keep it up!:D
Isn't time for a new update? :)
It is. I need to grab some new screen shots and update tomorrow.
Wow 18th image down from top even has Patrick Stewart making a cameo!
