September has been a month of slow progress, I got a bit distracted by building myself a new PC. However everything is still moving forward and back up to speed now I am settled in. One of the first things I installed was the Source SDK, so I could get my new map ex_lycantium finished enough for our Beta testers to try out.
As part of the process of polishing up the mods rough edges we have been trying to eliminate those jarring reminders that you are playing half-life 2 in order to increase your immersion in the game. One of these elements turned out to be the hazard suits zoom mode, which was entirely unsuitable for the entirely biological Tyranids. Rather than loose the benefits of a zoom mode entirely it was re-styled for a Tyranids as ¨eye strain mode¨.
I had ¨a heavy time¨ putting together a new video for you, but I know how much you love seem Exterminatus in action, so please consider this a little bonus.
It is always interesting to read your comments, so let us know what you make of this months progress.
Nice job dudes. When will we be exspecting some chance to try it out?
soon, as in no longer measured in years, now measured in months.
mainly its down to testing and content creatiohn on the mapping side of things.
Now this becomes one of my most anticipated mods!
Real, real nice. Awaiting.
The Tyranid zoom looks great.
All the Tyranid team will be controlled by players as the Marine team?
Yes, all the tyranid team are also controlled by players.
Everything looks good so far here.
Coming along nicely guys..
was it me or did I just see everyone being heavy bolters...?
anyways this looks awesome, and I can't wait to try it :D
at that point, all the marines on screen had heavy bolters.
appart from me who you can hear off in the dark someone getting ganked by a nid. I was a Vet.
ah I am guessing Vets are more melee oriented? :)
Will you have assault marines too? Where you can jetpack to other areas and ambush tyranids?
Vets are counter assult, which is not actually assult orientated sicne to try and go one on one with a nid in CC leads to near instant death.
They have a short range metla weapon, a last ditch chainsword as well as a bolter and nades.
Which brings us onto why no assult marines, because you would die, horribably in about half a second if you tryed to attack a nid with a chainswiord.
damn, 2bad i missed this beta session :( looks awesome
I like it, the weapons fell nice and the HUD looks awesome. Great work guys!
Oh man, Rival Species... what a blast from the past, had a blast with the original mod.
Can't f*cking wait, looks great.
