Currently in Alpha, Surge is a new take on the old favorite that is Excessive Overkill. An over-the-top mutator that turns all weapons into vastly more powerful variants, gives you new and exciting ways of traversing maps, health & ammo regeneration, and turns every match into a brutal, incredibly fast-paced slugfest!

In Excessive it's not about staying alive, it's about not stopping, and taking as many people as possible out with you!

Excessive Overkill: Surge was designed with modularity, compatibility and continuity in mind! To that end it is split into various modules. They can be used in any order; together, standalone or with other mutators. But these modules fall into three categories and you should choose just one of each. They are:

Core, Weapons, Armor.

The Core mutator is where all the gameplay changes happen, anything not directly related to weapons or armor! There is a global firerate increase that will work for the regular weapons or another mutator's weapons if loaded after it. It has two variants: Light and Dark. Dark has the crazier features. >:-)

The Weapons mutator is clear, but it should be noted that the main firerate increase is actually located in the Core. It has three variants: Inventory, Pickups and Random. Inventory will start everyone with all weapons and ammo, removing WeaponBases. Pickups will upgrade the default inventory and the WeaponBases on the map. Random upgrades the default inventory and picks 4 weapons at random to add to it for the duration of the match. It should also be noted that the Core removes all ammo pickups and gives the ammo regeneration.

The Armor mutator slightly reduces respawn timers and changes the way armor totals up, giving each piece reduced armor values but letting them stack. The Shieldbelt no longer consumes lesser armor to replenish itself and instead regenerates. Lesser armors rest underneath it and come into play when the Shieldbelt is lost. It has no variants.

EO:S is current in ALPHA so there will be bugs, and issues! I have had only one person helping me test this, so will very much appreciate testing, feedback & bug reports. The more detailed, the better! :-)

More info here: Epicgames.com(Alpha)

New video added! Not as high quality but a lot more gameplay footage and from the release build with many changes over the pre-alpha trailer.... :-)

I used to be a heavily avid UT99 EO player. My dad used to play (firemech) and I'd always join in and destroy everyone. I was one of the best half life players out there at the time so UT was like second nature for me. I remember saltypepper always was kind of one of the guys keeping it going. Don't really remember everyone else, been so long. Glad to see someone else is bringing it back. I'd definitely love to get some sort of early access to it and help guide it along. Thanks for bringing it back.

Hi there! I vaguely remember the name SaltyPepper. Did you play full EO (no self damage) or half EO? I only played the former, and was banned for its last year or two, so I must have missed you. :-) Anyway, great to have someone else interested in EO for UT4!

It was full EO. I was around a lot in the middle years when it was going all the time. It's gonna be fun to play again.

I've been remembering SaltyPepper better.... As you said, it's been a long time. :-) I went by SonicBoom/Warder/Rip back then; perhaps we crossed paths. I'll have the next version up any day now, depending on how much more work I want to put in. I'm going to try to get it online this time, so am trying to cinch everything up tight.

I usually played as m or master in the game. You should add me on Facebook so you can let me know when it's up Facebook.com/Rob.marro :)

I don't use Facebook, but I did send you a work-in-progress version for in-between builds if you want to help me test. :-) Just toss me a PM if you have any questions.

Instructions are right above in the download description (let me know if you need further description), but I haven't released a new version for the recent update yet so it won't work for it; will try to get it out in the next few days. Thanks for your interest!
