What is Eutopia?

Eutopia is a modification for Unreal Tournament 3 that will be developed by a number of University graduate games design students from the UK, aswell as various other members drafted in to help with various specific areas.

The Story so far

2100AD , as a survivor of the many wars that which brought Earth to the brink of destruction, you are taken to a beacon of hope in a world of chaos and conflict "Eutopia".

Eutopia is a thriving metropolis where humanity has started to rebuild , cloning facilitys help to repopulate the planet and energy plants serve to supply much needed energy to the city while it is under construction. But normal day activitys will soon be interupted, the surviving humans who cannot give up the old ways to new beliefs have begun forming gurrilla factions hoping to take world for themselfs , to rule it with an iron grip and to cause as much chaos as possible.

Theres a battle coming that will take place on multiple fronts all over the world to decide the future of humanity , its your choice to either save it , or betray humanity and take the world for your own.

Gameplay Details

  • Eutopia is a 3rd person team shoot em up set in a cyber punk inspired world.
  • You choose who you wish to be , Humans or Cyborgs, your missions are different depending on the gametype.
  • Use either human weapons , or Cybernetic powers to crush your enemys.
  • Take advantage of the field upgrade system to allow different types of weapons/vehicles , or mutant power ups.

The higher ups wanted me to put something up here , so heres abit more information for you all to chew on.


Its an idea based on work by Masamune Shirow , Fallout 3 , Red Faction and a couple of other borrowed ideas that we are in the process of redesigning now as our own IP , because thats where ideas come from now a days , other ideas.

So we throw around all these ideas , and in turn , they smash into each other and create completely new and original ones. The idea is to put all the characters , vehicles , and weapons ingame first after they have been visualized and modeled , and then work on the levels later on.

Gameplay ideas

The Multiplayer system is something we wanted to work on and change slightly , and atm we are trying to recruit anyone with good Unreal script skills , we plan to intergrate a "field upgrade system" similar to the shop featured in "Killing Floor" for UT2004 , or more commonly known in "Counter Strike" , but we want to take this one further and have it so you can buy things such as vehicles , mutant powers , additional guns and such whilst on the move , making the gameplay abit more unpredictable.

Recruitment At the moment

At the moment the visualisation stage will take a while , but we hope to recruit people who can help that process advance , and be able to take an idea and run with it , so that we may produce something that looks quite visually appealing and will play well ingame too.

So this is a mod, which will developed by students of a University game studio.
Sounds interessting. Here in Germany/Brunswick we have University game studios, too.
