You are a ga damn genius, seriously though when this is completed it could very well be the best empire at war mod out there. At least until the Vong War mod is complete, then I am afraid you will be outmatched.

Idk Vong definitely beats it on sheer size units and storyline but holy **** I don't think anything compares to this beauty and detail.

Vong at war mod will be bigger in ships and story but you can't take away the fact of the dedication G / J has put into his mod and the time he has went and made this game look extremely good and continues to improve it.

I for one have a big 2TB hard drive, I'll have both mods vs just one because I think that neither mod will replace the other for me.

The problem with the Vong mod is that the source material is dull. Like the whole Yuzhan Vong thing is very dull for me.

This looks great. I really like how you are included a visual location for the gun batteries on the larger ships. It always bugged me how turbolasers shot out of nowhere midship.

Any chance that you can make an optional projectiles file for people who like the way the lasers are done in mods like ICW?

pretty neat! just shame that the rather large shield absorption particles would be applied as well on smaller crafts like fighters...

Agree, I do...

But this has such a beautiful effect that I watched this three times...

Thanks guys. @Seregruth, that's indeed true, quite stupid when a turbolaser hits a bomber it gives this large flash that doesn't at all fit the bombers shields. I already reduced the size to 50% for all 3 impact particles because of this. The result is visible here, if I make it even smaller it'll start to look bad.

Exelent work Jeroenimo, but I have a doubt, with so much distance between shields an hull, wouldn't be too easy for a fighter (as an example) to traspass the shield and attack the hull? I mean in 30 m can fit al least 6 fighters.

I've tested this, fighters that are nearly touching the hull, inside the shield will still only damage the shield. Would have been great if had been otherwise though, would've loved it if fighters could just bypass the shields by flying past it.

Ok, but I find stupid a similar flow in the shield design. I mean, come on, you can create an energy field that assorb laser fire, but you aren't capable of generating it near the hull? I find it strange.

well, I suppose you'll just have to deal with it.

Think of it. If you generate a shield around your ship in a bubble shape, you need less shiled generators/projectors than otherwise, one for each facing for example.
In the Stargate universe (not the series) only the hyper-super advanced Ancient ships had this kind of technology.

In star wars the engineers even miniaturized the shield tecnology, making them for personal use. So I don't think is a big deal making a shield that can have the shape of the ship's hull.

Absolutely astonishing what a big difference such a small change makes...it's really something. On a side note, looks like your Home One is way too small, though that could just be me.

Description

Inspired by the Awakening of the rebellion mod that I tried out 2 weeks ago, I decided it'd look better that once a ships shields got hit, the projectile would impact it at a distance from the ship. This "distance" ranges from about 30 meters on corvettes to hundreds of meters on larger ships such as the Lucrehulk or the Bellator. This meant painstakingly adding shield meshes to each and every ship, and as I want nothing short of perfection, a simple sphere would not do. Each ship has a shield that is shaped up to its hull. (though the Vigil corvettes that you can see getting hit in this video do have a sphere shaped shield)

Also new shield impact particles, I tried to give the impression that the shots are being "absorbed" by the shields, the energy surge is directed outwards with a sort of electricity-like force running along the site of impact over the shield as the shield tries to fill the gap. This is because *Insert long story about how shields work in star wars*.

This took quite a long time, but I feel the result is quite worth it. Some credit goes to the AotR guys, as without their mod I wouldn't have made this quite visually impressive upgrade.

Check him out, he's awesome. He makes songs about games, very impressive ones, been looking to include some of his tracks in my videos for a long time.
