Wouldn't mind if it was a touch slower in its powerup for a bit more of a dramatic effect and even if possible for the shot to go *through* targets opposed to just stopping at whatever it's hit.
I tried to mimic the Rogue One Death Star effect as closely as possible. Artofvfx.com I think I got as close as I could, maybe a few colour changes on the firing particle, but I think I got the timing down fairly well.
I'm not sure how to best explain this but I'll give it a shot. The Death Star's planet cracker is a single animation. It allows me to have a particle for the small lasers, and then a particle for the laser that'll shoot out to the planet. This is very versatile and gives me a lot of freedom. However, the ship destroyer does not allow you to shoot a particle like the planet cracker does. Though the build-up is the same, with the small laser particle, the actual shot is a beam that connects a tiling texture from the tip of the focussing lasers to whatever ship you're firing at. Not to pad myself on the back, but I'm very surprised that I got the beam to look as good as it does right now, because using the tractor beam system (it was used first in vanilla EAW for the tractor beam) to get a decent superlaser going using only a single texture and no particle is extremely difficult. The beam cuts off at the middle of the ship, causing this extremely jagged edge around the ship. The only option to fix it is to make the beam so thing that it can't go around a ship, but that looked far too ridiculous (I tried). So sadly, we're stuck with this. Trust me, I wish I could change it.
Jeroenimo, is it possible you could add a few other planets to the game/galaxy map? For example you could add Scarif and just use the Mon Cala ground map.
Now i may be completely wrong here, but isn't the DS too big ? It looks like it's twice the size of a planet. Maybe it's just the angle, but if it isn't, then i hope it will be downscaled a bit in the future.
Sadly there's a render range limit to what the game engine will and will not render. The skydome is as large as it can be before the farthest ends stop rendering if you pan around the map, this limits the size objects can be. The Death Star fits, planets also somewhat fit but have a size limit of what I assume to be 300km. Which is far to small for a planet of course but it's what I'm stuck with. I prefer to have atleast the Death Star look as massive as it should.
That lighting is amazing! Also the isd's turbolasers sound amazing.

Ah, that's a shame, but thanks for the detailed explanation.
Ok you can admit it now. You´ve got Wookiee slaves in your basement working for you :D
Victims need some flashy explosions. Because that laser feels pretty weak without them.
And just an opinion: shouldnt DS power down be quicker?
Amazing work so went can we expect this bad boy?
also does the purifier and bellaitor have death clones yet?
What death clones?
"Death clone" is an animation that is played after something is destroyed.
What button did you hit to be able to manipulate the camera when the star destroyers came out of hyperspace.
I think I came when I saw the Death Star move to fire at the ship

It's around 160km, which is canon.
I know its canon size, it just looks too big on the tactical map. Though again, i'm probably wrong.

Then doesn't that mean you should scale the Death Star to be canon-sized IN PROPORTION to the Planet Size Limit?
He had escaled the DS accordingly to his own models, so the sizes are exactly as they should be
dat Mass Effect music at 00:16 tho <3
Anyway, can't wait to use it ingame :D
I just noticed that timer says 420 seconds...
Isnt it a bit... long?
Intentionally so.
*the biggest open mouthed face of joy/awesomeness you can think of*
Mods like these makes me wonder if there is even a limit in this game to mod.
Ouh yeah forgot, a max resolution for ground maps
I'll never have enough of those massive capital ships explosions, They are simply too awesome for my eyes and make them burn of hapiness ! :3
That's no boob, it's a space station!
Epic and music fits, though the DS looks like it doesn't face the target all the way before firing. Is that just me?
