This mod catapults Empire at War into 2077. It maintains the game's design philosophy, while adding new units, better graphics, and deeper gameplay.
Ground combat. Galactic Conquest map. Criminal Underworld with tech levels. Vong faction. Vong faction? Vong faction.
Here is the currently planned roster of units for ground combat. Vanilla units in italics, new units in bold.
Neutral units will be buildable by all factions, only on specific planets. So CIS units will be buildable only on some CIS worlds, like Hypori, for all factions.
All credit and special thanks for the GC map and the GC overhaul to EmperorNiko, without whom this'd never have happened.
All credit for the work on ground combat goes to the team! Even though I'm making the stats and thinking up the unit rosters, they're the ones coding it all in, finding new art assets, and testing it ingame. A group of people wanted to do an unofficial overhaul for ground combat. Come together and do it on their own, see if they could turn it into something better than vanilla. I was quite interested in this, since they seemed to want to really go at it. I offered to help with advice, and they seemed happy to accept. In about a day, this turned into an official remake. The team is really motivated and they work really fast, so I figured why not make this official? What I do is I set up the unit stats, and the team codes it in and finds new art assets. Clone Trooper from Battlefront Commander has allowed us to use whatever we want from his mod, so we're upgrading all vehicle and infantry units with new models and textures. Work is being done insanely fast, we've got about 7 people working on this off and on. All credit to the team!
In what way and how could they overhaul ground combat?
The graphics on scale with space battles would be nice, but I'm not a dev.
I see that various fighters will be included in ground combat. Will they be separate land-only units, or will space fighters now be deployable to ground?
I plan to have them deployable, but the system behind this needs some work to set up properly, and to balance properly. I have a pretty good idea of what I want out of it, and I think it's very possible to balance it properly.

Hmm... I think some "Special" Units would be nice, something like the Nova Troopers, 501st etc. Of course you could have only one unit of each at a time.
I'd suggest moving some of the Pirate units as rebel units buildable on specific planets. Would really expand a lore friendly rebel roster.

Would it be possible to add Clone Troopers into the neutral units mix? I mean, since you can build CIS droids by controlling Hypori, maybe one could build clone troopers by controlling, say, Kamino.
Nah, droids are mor or less left overs that had factories still around the galaxy. Kaminos cloning operations were shut down long ago by the empire.
Suggestion for ground combat team: all that specific infantry "units" like riflemen, plex, snipers, bikes can be made in package as "infantry battalion". This way infantry ("infantry joint forces") will be able to hold on its own vs. vehicles or air units. Otherwise we will have vanilla combat where infantry is only to capture points. Just my 2 cents.
PS: Yes, there are mods that did it with great success.
Strategic Improvement mod is one of them. I like how they have infantry platoons where most troops have laser rifles/pistols, some grenadiers thrown in, and maybe a sergeant/lieutenant as well. Makes infantry feel more useful.
Suggestion: please set auto-deploy for all heavy machine gunners. I'm not gonna click it every time their change their positions.
Does this mean I won't have to auto-resolve invasions to avoid getting constantly spawn-killed by rebel fighters and artillery?

I suggest you add the Imperial Soldier/Regular Troop, Imperial Navy ,Galactic Navy, Special Naval Force Troop.
plus you can add other stormtrooper branches like the :
-shoretrooper
-incinerator
-novatrooper
and troops trained to survive in the worst environmental conditions:
-R.A.D troopers
-E.V.O troopers .
But also all imperial commandos like the:
-stormcommando
-shadow stormtrooper
-death trooper
It seems to me that it's all about the imperial infantry after the vehicles that's another story...
