This mod catapults Empire at War into 2077. It maintains the game's design philosophy, while adding new units, better graphics, and deeper gameplay.
Invincible-class Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser. An ancient battleship of the Republic designed over three-thousand years ago when large warships ruled the stars before advancement in weapon tech rendered them obsolete. Cheap and easy to acquire in the modern age, these vessels are ideally suited for anti-piracy duty and a powerful missile platform despite the relatively light laser armament for such a massive warship. The CSA makes extensive use of these vessels to protect their interests.
The Invincible also comes with pretty large health pool but split to very few hardpoints with limited firing angles. Shields while being comparable to a VSD in total power, recharges at half the rate. It also lacks a hangar or bolt on fighters. All in all a good support platform for missile artillery with decent AA but comes up lacking in a fight with another warship.
Buildable at Etti IV for the playable factions. Built anywhere by the CSA (It's their most iconic ship afterall).

Is there any chance that there will be a refit version of this ship with heavier artillery to be viable in higher tech?

Isn't the depiction shown here incorrect? The comic that the design is taken from shows an invincible being rammed by another ship.
Yeah but it looks better this way than without. Plus Kharak really blended the structure to work well.
At the time of making the model, some 10 or so years ago, it was a mistake from not paying close attention to the source material. However people liked it this way, so here we are.
