The game that was meant to be. As the 2001 trailer showed us.
Released. Check download sections, ladies!
Damn. I want to play this.
Why not just move this mod to the Unreal engine at this point, or just make a separate mod?
Okay, sorry. Geez...
I think if he wanted this to be standalone I would have done so. Also everything that is part from a standalone requires some extra work even if your mod is a total conversion.
There is also a need to know about how to do things in newer engines.
Well that´s not a bad assumption but the thing is that we started this mod -and still work on it- with the idea of recreating the 1998/2001 trailers and screenshots in Duke3d. The idea IS to allow people play those environments and gameplay pieces in Duke3d. Anything different is out of the question because it´s outside our interest. Also, and much more important than the extra work is the fact that doing something named or inspired after Duke Nukem outside a Duke Nukem game is a copyright infringment and both 3D Realms and Gearbox are really picky about that. There were a few Cease and Desist letters to modders that tried to make mods DNF inspired on games like Half Life.
One year on: Why was I being such a jerk? I'm sorry, fam.
Guessing this involves a CON remake of the Shadow Warrior vehicle code.
Nobody in their right mind would want to code in sector-based vehicles, they're too limited (single sector, no slope etc). This is probably using original code. There have been countless sprite-based vehicles in Duke over the years, some of them very sophisticated like the bike.
This is a suggestion, that's probably too late, but it would be fantastic if someone could make HRP models for this mod. It would then be SUPER close to that of the original versions. There's only a few characters and guns (and the motorcycle) It'd be nice to hear back if possible. The mod is FANTASTIC btw!!!
