You've played the mod, but have doubts on how the score system works and why should you care about bonus and stuff? Well then, it's time to explain it (we will be using the 1.2 version as an example).

How the score system works?

The ways to score in the game are by killing, destroying, exploding, getting items, finding secrets and finishing the level (of course). Here's the list of points you get:

  • KILL: 35 points;
  • GETTING A ITEM: 8 points;
  • SECRET: 300 points;
  • DESTROYING ITEMS AND COMPUTERS: 2 points;
  • EXPLODING A C9 OR A BARREL: 1 point;
  • EXPLODING A DEAD BODY: 7 points;
  • EXPLODING AN ENEMY (ALIVE): 13 points;
  • EXPLODING AN ENEMY (ALIVE) WITH A SHOTGUN: 21 points;
  • FOR EACH BULLET SHOT TO AN ENEMY: 1 point;
  • FOR EACH PLASMA SHOT TO AN ENEMY: 2 points;
  • FOR EACH KICK TO AN ENEMY: 8 points;
  • FOR EACH ROCKET SHOT TO AN ENEMY: 5 points;
  • FOR EACH ULTRA RPG SHOT TO AN ENEMY: 4 points;
  • FOR EACH PIPEBOMB EXPLODED TO AN ENEMY: 7 points;
  • FOR EACH SHRINKER BLAST SHOT TO AN ENEMY: 9 points;
  • FOR EACH EXPANDER BLAST SHOT TO AN ENEMY: 11 points;
  • FOR EACH FREEZE BLAST SHOT TO AN ENEMY: 7 points;
  • FOR EACH FLAME BLAST SHOT TO AN ENEMY: 6 points;
  • FINISHING THE LEVEL: 500 points;
  • KILLING A BOSS: 1500 points.

Now you see it matters not only how you kill an enemy but what weapon do you use it, not only that, finding secrets can get you several extra points as well as leaving no bodies behind. Other additional way to get extra points is for getting multiple kills at once (multiplies the number of kills by 4 -> you kill 5 aliens at once, you get 4x5 = 20 KILL POINTS).

Okay, cool, now, let's check it out the bonus ou can get:

  • ALL KILLS: 850 points and a First Aid Kit drop on the next level;
  • ALL SECRETS: 1200 points and a 37% chance to drop on the next level a Armor or and Atomic Health or a Shotgun Ammo or a Plasma Ammo or a Regular RPG ammo or a Chaingun weapon, OR you get a 1% chance to drop a EXTRA LIFE;
  • ALL ITEMS: 250 points and a 12% chance to drop on the next level a Armor, if not, Steroids are dropped;
  • NO BODIES LEFT: 1000 points and one Ultra RPG Ammo, RPG Ammo, ONE Pipebomb and +25 HP on the next level;
  • NO DAMAGE TAKEN: 2000 points and one Extra Life and Atomic Health on the next level.

See? It's VERY important to get the bonuses, they WILL make the difference in the gameplay.

What about losing points?

By now, you've seen that it's easy to get points, but losing them, is easier. You lose points by not only getting yourself killed, but for taking damage as well. Check it out:

  • DAMAGE TAKEN: -15 points;
  • EXPLOSION DAMAGE TAKEN: -50 points;
  • BE KILLED: -1500 points;
  • GETTING A BABE KILLED: -70 points.

The game punishes you for killing babes not only by spawning Aliens, but by making you lose points as well.

Now that you know how the score system works, time to get your butt back to the game and make the highest score ever. Show us how many points did you get in game!
