A weapons/game-play mod of high standard that allows you to play as Duke Nukem in DOOM. It comes complete with a large and colorful arsenal with which you are encouraged to swap between regularly as many have different strengths and weaknesses depending on given situation and enemy. There is a little more focus on strategy, but still keeping an overall action-packed and fast-paced feel with a lot of devastating fire power at your fingertips. It was designed with DOOM II levels in mind but works fine with DOOM and The Ultimate DOOM.

Note: "ACTION 1" key activates Beer and "ACTION 2" key toggles Night-Vision (when these are available, see icons on the far right of the HUD) and Extra Blood option is recommended to be turned off.

IMPORTANT: Make sure "Item Respawn" is turned off as the game will crash otherwise.

Tested and should work fine with following maps/mapsets:

This mod is awesome. no complaints there. But for some reason it runs horribly on my laptop. It is a very new model, i7 cpu, RTX 260, Win 10, 16 GB of ram, and the ingame fps counter shows around 500 fps, but the game itself is choppy. I can't really describe it. Maybe it is a mouse related issue? I tried all sorts of resolutions, tried different versions of 3dge..
Anybody else got a bad performing experience with this?

Why 3DGE exactly? why not GZDOOM or Zandromum? I mean since Brutal Doom or Beautiful Doom is possible on GZDOOM and Zandromum, but why 3DGE?

Because it is the port i've been modding for the past 10+ years. When I started it was leaps ahead in terms of modding capabilities which is why I chose it way back when. That has somewhat changed over the years but truth be told I'm not all that motivated to learn another modding langauge just for the sake of switching ports. EDGE has its share of flaws, but I've always found it suitable and have never had any more than minor issues with it.

I dare you to make Duke it out in Vanilla Doom

Can i play this co-op with my friends?

For everyone who's having trouble to play that with gzdoom... There are a few duke 3d mods out there which work perfectly fine with gz...

Any particular reason why you say that this doesn't work with Freedoom?

It will technically work but you will get a lot of visual oddities. The mod was designed with stock DOOM monster and decorational sprites in mind.

Re-packaged version uploaded (2.4c), which includes the fixed version of 3DGE and a slightly beefed up Railgun. All you need is the .WAD(s) from one or all of the DOOM games and you are good to go. These you have to buy (from Gog.com for instance), they can not be distributed freely. That is illegal. Enjoy.

Rather than try and post code fixes, I've uploaded two 7z's to the EDGE team servers that fix both EDGE and Duke it Out In Doom.

These builds are newer than the ones provided in the ModDB download link. These also fix the camera bobbing and the transparency issues seen in the video.

Extract to a fresh directory (not over any existing install of EDGE), and make sure you copy your IWAD to the folder. Drag n drop 'dukeout.epk' over EDGE.

If you need to get into fullscreen, be aware that there is a bug we are facing with OpenGL/SDL2 that might turn your screen black. If that's the case, force-quit and restart. You can also just start the game in a window, quit out, and open EDGE.ini and change the r_fullscreen value to '1' and your desired resolution. Sorry for these issues, we are working on fixes!

What changes are made to Duke it out in DOOM itself?
