Lost in Infinity's grasp, the Doom Slayer must break an endless cycle of death and rebirth.

A single-player roguelike action FPS for GZDoom.

Hey, we're still working hard on this mod, so why don't you check out the Discord server? There's news, drunken banter and we can help you out with any issues you might have! We also have a Patreon (and Ko-Fi!) and could use even a tiny bit of support - the real world's a tough place!

DOOM INFINITE DEMO 0.978.6

Doom Infinite is a single-player Doom-based action FPS roguelike conversion mod for GZDoom 4.8.2 or newer.

Requires Doom2.wad to run (DOOM II ON GOG | DOOM II ON STEAM)

Tired of this one particular bug that always infuriated you during your run? Found out that some powerups are broken or behave oddly? Or maybe you experienced the worst nightmare of any roguelike player - a hard, brutal, fatal crash? Good news then - this updated version of DOOM Infinite focuses on things just like these to make your runs smoother and less frustrating!

Focusing on most outrageous crash reports we really patched some code holes this time. My personal opinion is that a crashing roguelike is the worst game sin, fixing as many instances and cases of sudden "meet this wall of code and lose your progress" moments took absolute priority.

Aside from crash and bugfixes, what's new? First of all - something old is new! Well, it sounds confusing, I know, but we managed to get GZDoom 4.8.2 and 4.9 compatibility back! Version 0.978.5 refused to work on older engines because of a small oversight which was corrected.

Another thing is mobile improvements. I've personally never envision Infinite to run on mobile devices and it surprised me a lot the very first time somebody shared a screenshot of Delta Touch and our project on it. Since then additional steps were taken to improve the experience for mobile too, and this version further enhances touch detection, plus now it actually asks you if it's running on mobile in order to optimize some settings for you.

Mobile Preset Help

The next version will focus on bringing more content and variety to the game - from powerups through map stuff to new mechanics. Also, rumors of a dedicated DOOM Infinite wiki being put up not too far in the future are spreading... And it would be fantastic!

We thank all who helped us get this far with this project - you rock!

Been pretty addicted to this mod, really fun, really nice work. I look forward to seeing more updates.

I registered this account here just so I could provide a little bit of feedback.

I hope there is some more work done on balancing things. IMO the game leans a little too heavily into obscuring vision, pitch-black rooms with fog, etc. I understand there are counters like the Cacoeye and other things but it's a little overdone.

Especially invisible monsters I think could use a strong nerf. The fact they're completely invisible until they fire, and that they can spawn in behind you while you're in the middle of fight really exacerbates the problem. I've had more than one run end with an invisible Hellguy equipped with a rocket launcher just insta-gibbing me with no indication there was anything was there. I understand part of roguelikes are occasionally getting screwed like this, but invisible enemies that can kill you instantly really is simply not fun. Maybe they shouldn't be completely invisible- just translucent- or only have their eyes showing or something. I mean there are already enemies cloaked in black fog (which I think the radius could be toned down a little bit for).

Not bad for a demo. It does have a lot of replay value. My main gripe is I wish there was an optional lives system, so if I die I get sent back to the crypt to try another level. Too often I get killed by cheesy enemies, mostly by teleporting reflectors. And I often find myself grinding the same 7 or 8 levels over and over again and it can get boring quickly. It would also be nice if this could incorporate the smooth doom addon in some way.

Heyhey I just wanted to ask what the passives for certain Challenges do, like specifically the berserk one. I recognize the brand of sacrifice and while I assume it passively increases my curse I would love to know what it actually does or if I'm simply right. There was another one in the middle it looked like two black shells or maybe a pile of armor? I'm not quite sure as they don't show up in the passives section of the guide.
Also the misshapen egg, does that do anything actually? Is there a low chance for Revival when carrying it with a temporary form change or something like the demon power up? Maybe I simply didn't slay enough demons I hope to find out soon one way or another :)

Edit: Lmao I didn't pay enough attention clearly, I can see that the egg clearly does something and it's pretty cool, now I wonder how much were the other items

So far so good! Easy to install and get going, really fun so far. One thing that is really throwing me off is that my generic headphones sound like broken earbuds. Everything is extremely tinny sounding. No bottom end especially in gun sounds. I hope this is a bug or hardware incompatability.

Edit: After changing sound device to libOPN I feel like most SFX sound a lot better. Guns sound as I expect from Doom 1/2, most enemies sound pretty normal. It's just that new sound FX from the mod sound very harsh and tinny. Like when a whole row of barrels explodes or the sounds that indicate a new level is starting.

At the moment the mod is, for some reason, set to send you to an empty punishment level if you enable cheats.

I've only ever had this issue if I quit the game before or after the screen that shows the floppy disk to indicate an autosave. If you quit in the middle of a level or on the hub world you will lose your progress. The mod does tell you this I believe in the tutorial that it forces you to play through.
