A mod for Victoria II Heart of Darkness that continues the legacy of the Divergences : An Alter Vicky mod created by Kinniken. HPM version by Capitanloco6/MajorMajor. In the Divergences mod there are PODs that are not bound to each other. The Duke of Burgundy decides to continue his support for the Plantagenets in the Hundred Years' War. The personal union of Denmark, Norway and Sweden survives and evolves into a unitary state. Isabel of Spain married a Portuguese prince instead of Ferdinand II. The Chenghua Emperor does not stop Ming China's explorations, but decides to pursue them with greater zeal than before.

Report RSS Divergences of Darkness - Venice and Greece patch

The entirety of the mod's content regarding the Most Serene Republic of Venice and Greece has been reworked - all outcomes that used to depend on RNG are now dictated by player choice, either directly or in a series of events, completely changing how the Council of Athens and the Council of Delphi work.

Posted by on

The old Venetian and Greek content used to be heavily dependent on RNG - most notably for the Greek demands during the Council of Athens and the choice of government during the Council of Delphi. This patch aims at making the content based on player choice, while expanding the existing set of events and decisions (see the changelong in the file page for more details).

As an example, there are a series of new events that precedes the Council of Athens, the congress in which Greek nationalists of various walks of life meet to draft a series of demands for autonomy (or independence) for Venice, who is in control of the Aegean Islands, the Morea and Attica. By taking pro-Greek stances in these events, you can win the hearts and minds of the Hellene people, leading to them proposing integration into the Venetian republic rather than Independence.

One of these events regards the building of a new University. Building it in Venice will weaken the pro-Venetian faction within the Greek inteligentsia, whereas building it in Athens increases your chances of the Greeks staying loyal.

Building a new University

Another event will ask you to intervene in anti-Turkish riots in your Greek holdings. Protecting your Turkish citizens will antagonise your Greek population, whereas tolerating or actively participating in the riots will increase Greek loyalty.

Riots in Thessalia

If you allow the riots to run their course, or order your military units to participate, the Turkish will retaliate, increasing Greek nationalism.

Sorry for posting anonymous, I am a many year Victoria player from Greece. Victoria is of course one of my favourite games. As a Greek trying to place Greece in game... not so fun. The problem is the Greek pops which are abysmally low, Lamia is a province with 9k pops for example. Though this isn't accurate at all. Even in wikipedia you can see much larger population, for example the small island Psara was home to 20k inhabitants according to some sources but in game there is hardly 10 (?)k in north aegean and you get my point.
I am therefore asking for you to reconsider the pops in the Greek region, especially since during peacefull venetian rule the pops should be even higher than the real life ones. I imagine there would be at least 300-400k per state.
Overall Greek pop at the time should be something like 1.5kk in the real world.
Anyway thank you for taking the time to read my post, I hope I will see some much needed "buffs" to Greece in the future. And of course, thank you for making such a great mod, with 2000 hours in game and its my favourite.
