death throes v1.0.0
Effects GFX 3 commentsFirst official release. Animations only - no gore textures.
--New Gore + New Death Animations-- Minimod for MedII:TW whose goal is to substitute the old shared standard death animations with at least 2 new death animations unique to each soldier type, namely archers, musquetiers, handgunners, swordsmen/macemen, 2-handed axemen, pikemen, spearmen, halberdeers, crossbowmen and 2-handed swordsmen. I won't be modifying fatalities for now. Maybe later on when I figure out an easy way of implementing in-game dismemberment.

Is the mod still in development or is it dead?
I hope this doesnt come off as mean or make you stressed but the mod works great and stuff but once you finish the gore textures can you make some cav death animations the default cav death is quite lacking
I actually kinda like the vanilla death animations for cavalry units, even though I know of some people who dislike them because the rider is glued to their mount's sable, unlike in rome TW. Is that why you find them lacking?
Glad you actually managed to release this. It deserves more attention than its getting.
Question, are you using any graphical mod ? The graphics in the video look better than what I remember from vanilla
Thanks, apart from gore textures the graphics in the screenshots are vanilla. That being said I took them using the game cinematic editor with every graphic setting maxed out.
This mod is amazing!
Is there any way that also vanilla death animations are kept simultaneously with the animations from this mod? That way, if we have both, there would be more variety. Is it possible, or maybe the engine is limited to a max. of 2 death animations?
Thank you :)
Thanks, the game only allows 2 death animations for each unit type. In Rome TW, which M2TW shares the engine with, there were more. The M2TW data files still reference more than 2 animations:
die_forward_1
die_backward_1
die_forward_2
die_backward_2
die_to_back_right_1
die_to_back_left_1
Unfortunately there is a bug in the base game, so the game only uses the first 2 animations and ignores the other ones.
Traditional modding cannot fix this bug. But if I reverse-engineer the bugged machine code in the executable, then it can be fixed. We'll see.

it seems dead :(
It seems that's not the case.
