A deserted island... a lost man... memories of a fatal crash... a book written by a dying explorer. Dear Esther is a ghost story told using first-person gaming technologies. Rather than traditional gameplay, the focus here is on exploration, uncovering the mystery of the island, of who you are and why you are here. Fragments of story are randomly triggered by moving around the environments, making every telling unique. Features a stunning, specially commissioned soundtrack. Forget the normal rules of play; if nothing seems real here, it's because it may just be all a delusion. What is the significance of the aerial - What happened on the motorway - is the island real or imagined - who is Esther and why has she chosen to summon you here? The answers are out there, on the lost beach and the tunnels under the island. Or then again, they may just not be, after all...

Promo machinima for the Dear Esther mod
woooow
looks interesting
Frame rate aside, The performance was quite wonderful from the Voice actor, and the writing of it also great. I've been downloading the mod as I watched this and I admit I was plenty impressed, I'm hoping to be equally impressed with the mod itself. I look forward to giving it praise should it get just that from me.
The frame rate is part of the filming.
Thats not very smart for a game where people find that exact effect extreamly annoying. Also, the music drownds him out, cant understand him.

Damn, thats one very good mod I guess. If the mod is as good as the voice acting I guess the mod will be stunning. You feel like a thief downloading this for free I guess XD
Forsight methinks. The new one has to be purchased, lol.
What is this guy talking about anyways? i cant hear him.
Oh and. I see a blinking red light on top of a mountain. Is that a lighthouse?
Is there a better version of this video anywhere?
The music is too loud to hear some of the words :(
This looks genuinely intriguing. Downloading right now and can't wait to play it
Stupid super slow internet connection! I want to watch this! And PLAY! NOW!
Yeah fix the framerate and lower the music volume even though it's really pretty
hm, the voice acting should be louder compared to the music, couldn't understand that much
also the framerate really sucks
hope that the next version will feature subtitles as well!
you should definitely make the voice louder; in the first release, at least, I had to have my volume all the way up to hear him, and then other sounds, like footsteps, were painfully loud
wait, I just opened this thinking it was a new video ?_?
why is it in my updates if it's from 2008
probably disregard my comment, then
Great for nostalgia. :) kind of interesting to think back to when I explored the mod on my own, even more so to hear the narration again after such a long time. The music is still great, and the writing eerily elegant. I can only imagine how much better the new version's going to be.
Your mod is spectacular, but this trailer is very lame. I don't know if the frame rate is intentional, but you should re-record these fly-by's at something like 30 frames per second. Also, find a way to make the voice louder.
this trailer is basicly the closest I can get to a walkthrough. I don't know how to progress beyond the hermit's cave. do I load the auto saves?
SH**...nah cool
ANYONE ELSE SEE THE ZOMBIE?!
